I don't like spoilers, but reading that makes me very excited about the new movie! Although it looks as if they've changed the order of things a little. I wish I could see it in the advanced screening!:( Does it say when the soundtrack is coming out?

I'm deleting the former spoiler. There are better threads for it.

But beware of spoilers at the site I posted.

Great idea! My daughter keeps asking me what I want for Christmas, until this moment, I wanted nothing, but.....thanks to movie marketing, I now WANT this soundtrack! It worked!

LOL!

But in my opinion, thanks to Howard Shore's magnificent choral settings, I want it. Movie or not, any setting of Quenya songs will jump right to the top of my wishlist. And being a choral singer myself (bass 1), I know what I consider good writing, and Howard Shore obviously loves choral singing!

They said, there are six songs in this new one versus the three songs in the FOTR soundtrack. But if you add in the choral sections, the human voice is used in almost every track. Youth choirs for hobbits, high voices for elves, deep voices for dwarves, grunting for orcs... The voice is may favorite musical source and it just makes these soundtracks so much better than any old John Williams / Bruckner imitations.

I have heard the soundtrack but I havent bought it. Is it just me, or is Gollum's song really creepy? It is a cool track though.

I downloaded all the songs off the soundtrack. It is really awesome. I love it, just as much as the first if not more. And yes Gollums song is really freaky!!! It does make me think of Gollum though...

I posted here a few days ago, but my post disapeared, so I'll try again. I have TTT soundtrack and I like it. I postponed buying it for a day because I wanted to get the soundtrack with Frodo or Aragorn on the cover, but I reluctantly bought one with Theoden the next day. When I opened the CD, it had different covers inside!

Some of the music is from the FOTR soundtrack. I think my favorite song is Gollums' song. I really like Emiliana Torrini's voice, kind of like Bjorks. The track listing gives you a pretty good idea of what the progress of the movie will be. But I didn't get Farewell to Lorien on my CD! :(

I want to buy the soundtrack, but it hasn't made it to Wal-Mart yet. Needless to say, as soon as I see it, I will buy it.

I just heard a clip of Gollum's Song. Wow, she really does sound like Bjork. The little bit I heard was suitably creepy.

Since yesterday I've got the CD! :D But 30 Euro's are out of my pocket... :(
It's including a CD-rom with screen-savers, pictures, swords,...

Yay! I got my copy today! :D One word: wow. Gollum's Song is wonderfully creepy. I love it. Overall, much darker music for a much darker movie. "The Leave Taking" is interesting. It combines music from Rivendell and Lothlorien in FotR. Wonderful CD.

I got mine on Friday and am also missing track 20. Turns out there are 3 versions of the soundtrack.
- Regular with 19 tracks and 1 of 5 collectable cast cards
- special edition, basically the regular one plus the added track 20 from FotR.
- a limited edition online purchase only version that contains all 5 collectable cards, the added track plus other bonuses.
I wish I would have known prior to getting my copy.

I am so mad! I finally got my cd after ordering the special online edition w/ all the extra stuff, I put it in my computer to access the extras, the screen came up, I clicked and...nothing. I clicked everything on the screen and nothing happens! I don't know if it's because my computer is so outdated, or what, but that stinks! They really need to have instructions on how to get at this stuff in the actual packaging for people like me who are clueless when it comes to this kind of thing.
If anyone knows where my problem may lie, I'd love a PM from you.:( Meanwhile I'll just go listen to the thing and enjoy it.

i bought the soundtrack the 19th of december, the day after the movie 1st came out (and i saw it then too) so ive been listening to it for awhile. the song that really freaks me out is track#4 in the dead marshes cause all the people are singing freaky notes all at different times......... it just chills me to the bone. im a musician myself so by listening to the soundrack and matching it with the notes on my violin im now able to play a short version of the Rohan theme, which is really awesome. im trying to teach it to my friends *cough* and if they would give me a chance i can write it out for them *cough*

I've been listening to the soundtrack really often lately, and I absolutely love it! And Gollum's Song, I now love it. I didn't really like it when I first heard it, but I guess it grew on me. I think its now my favorite song on the whole CD. I also really love the Rohan stuff. Its really awesome.

I really like it, but I don't think it's quite as good as the FotR soundtrack.
Gollum's Song is so good and creepy. It actually made me start to think of what a tragic character Gollum is (instead of just bad or pitiable). It's as if he had no choice in the matter: he gets the ring by way of being ensnared by its evil (although there is the speculation about his character before that), he is corrupted by it, becomes wretched, and loses himself to the ring, and it ends up being the cause of his demise (and I would characterize it as one of the most grusome, painful and horrifying demises of all time, not a fun way to go). That really makes me feel sorry for him, that an innocent (we assume) creature's life becomes yet another tragic tale of suffering caused by the ring. He really could be argued to be a sacrificial hero, his life ruined that many others would be spared. It's sad. I'm not looking forward to seeing that part in RotK (okay, I am, but it'll be sad and horrifying, no matter what a bad guy he ends up being in the end, because I'm sure he didn't want to end up that way when he was Smeagol).

I love Gollum's Song! I'm learning it so I can sing it around the campfire on my next school camp - tho people will probably kill me for it. I don't know why, but they don't like LOTR! And I tell them about it all the time, they just refuse to be converted!;)
