Ok
In the lil prologue thing in fotr in the battle there is an elf that looks a lot like legolas. Has anyone else noticed this? I think its just before Sauron comes out. Am I the only one who sees this guy?? lol

Yes I saw that too!!!!! I thought maybe it was Thranduil because PJ wouldn't have mad it Legolas becaus ehe sees him as 2931 and that would mean he was born after Isildur took the ring from Sauron. Most of the blond elves look alike though so it could just be coincidence. Mx

do you think he might have put orlando in there thinking no one would notice?

I didn't notice, I'll go watch the movie and see.
Yippee! I get to see the movie again!
Listening to the actors' commentary included with the extended edition, they state very clearly that the technique of filming characters in "several places at once" as it were, is a PJ stamp... Check the scene where Frodo and co are dancing in the Bilbo's birthday party scene - Pippin appears carrying the cake, and then a moment later we see him in the background, playing in the band!
It would not surprise me if he got Orlando Bloom into the first Isildur/Elendil/Sauron scene for exactly this reason.

It would most likely be Thranduil (Legolas’s father), even if it was Orlando, PJ most likely meant it to be Thranduil since father and son would have similar features.
Quick question or may I say just some thoughts on that first scene :)
It would have been so cool if we saw Gil-galad hand Elrond the ‘ring of air’ or at least his army to Elronds care. Could you imagine how awesome it would have been to see Gil-galad fight Sauron one on one with Elendil running up to take Gil-galads place when he had fallen. Then having Elendil give Sauron his mortal wound and Sauron burning . . . well I’m getting ahead of myself, I’m sure you all know the story and the way it goes.
Heres the question: Why did PJ alter Tolkien’s vision of the last alliance?
(The beginning scene is still cool in its imagery and story (and easier to understand in such a short time space))

I noticed that, and thought it might be Orlando, but I dont think it is anymore. Yeah I think it might be Thranduil. Pj put Gil-galad in for a split second apparently, but I didnt notice until I watched the credits. :D

that elf could very well be orlando bloom, but something about that particular elf makes it seem that it really isnt orlando bloom...

At first I thought it was Legolas, but then I thought no its just another guy with with a blonde wig. I don't know though. Maybe it is Orlando after all.

I noticed that the first time I ever saw it!!! It's probably, Thranduil...

probibly was Thranduil. would make sense. but was he ever in the last alliance of men and elves? and why was it necessary to have thranduil included? it would have made more sense to have gil galad in there

It isn't Gil-Galad. I've seen a piccie of him. and that ain't him.

I noticed that, but I after rewinding several times, I thought it was just another blonde elf. Perhaps it was though, just because of Nunc's reason.

Gil-galad was one of the Elves who received a ring. In the part where you see Galadriel admiring her ring you see Gil-galad in the back. The other Elf is Cirdan who eventually gives Gandalf his ring. Gil-galad has a few split second shots in the battle.
I don't know who the blond Elf is. Perhaps Thranduil or maybe just an extra. I don't think it was Orlando, though. With the wig and similar clothing it made them look similar. :)

That is somewhat sad. Frodo doesn't deserve to be an orc.

Where? I never saw him... never watched all of credits either, though I did listen to the music in the theater!
poor Gil-galad never gets the attention he deserves :( he cuts down an orc then when its on the ground he slams his spear down into it... surprising amount of detail for his 3 seconds
if you dont have the concept art of the FotR here is a link for the Gil-galad concept designs http://www.princeofmirkwood.com/gil.html#earmour.jpg
and here are some pictures of actual movie Gil-galad
http://www.shanfan.com/nongymn/movies/lotr/characters/gilgalad/pictures/gilgaladmiscpics.html
as for Legolas being at the start either
a) it was Orlando, shich is likely as they were pretty cheap and just used whoever was around at the time:p or
b) it wasnt Orlando and most elves look the same anyways:rolleyes:

In the battle of Helm's deep a few secs after the first arrow is fired there is a shot of PJ. Did you see it?

Yes. "Frodo was an Orc" is just an interesting thing to consider. (He was an Elf too.)

Does this blond elf extra die? If yes, then it might be Oropher, Thranduil's father, who also fought in that war, but was slain.

Millane, thanks for the Gil-galad pics. They're great.

I'm positive they did not put Thranduil or Legolas in the battle. It was a coincedence, obviously, and there are a lot of pretty Elves out there, remember that. Did anyone know that Legolas almost took the role of Boromir? (True)

I can't prove it, but I do know for a fact that they needed all the extras they could get for the Orc and Elf Armies, the mass Lothlorien scenes, and so on. I also know for a fact that when Frodo (or any other charecter) was not also in the scene they used him as an extra if they were needed more.

I have seen the same exact part in the movie. I think they were probably just trying to save money.

I saw the same scene, there are two elves that look kind of like Orlando, you can't really tell all the elves are blonde. If it is Orlando they were probably just trying to save money.

Aww, I was hoping to have a scene to watch -- I'd love to see Elijah as an elf! (Or an orc, but he wouldn't be recognizable at all).
