i had the same problem so i just shrink em' too.
I don't know what's on your computer but what i do when i find one i want is right click on it and then a thing pops up and i click on "save picture as" and then it's saved. so then i go to "Paint" on my computer and go to "file" and then "open" then i get the picture i saved and then use the cut thing to get the whole picture but don't actually cut it. after it's got the little dotted line around it i go to the bottom right corner of it, click and move my mouse upward (still clicked) untill it says at the very bottom of the screen 60x60. and then it's small enough.
I don't know if you have Paint on your computer but if you do i think that should help.

I hope this isn't considered changing the topic, but I resized an image so it says 60x60, but when I try to use it, it says the image is too big. Why?

i'm not sure but i had an icon thing for IM and it was 47x47 which is how big all my other ones are but it said it was too big.it probably had something to do with it moving and stuff cause it was a picture of orlando bloom and the picture changed.

The avatar also must be below a certain byte size, which is 20k. Animated gifs - especially ones that are made from pictures - can quickly go above that.

Is there a thing on Paint that tells you the byte size?

i'm not sure if it's the bytes but there's little numbers at the bottom that change when you move the mouse and that's what i go by when i shrink stuff.

I went into Paint Shop Pro - not sure if that is the paint program you're using.
In that program - when you have the pointer (mouse) over the image the bytes are displayed in the lower right hand corner. This number how ever is not accurate.
The most accurate way, which will work regardless of what paint program you use, is to save the image. Then go into windows explorer (it will obviously be different if you're using a Mac or something). Go to the subdirectory where you saved the image and right click on the file name. Select "properties" from the pop-up menu. A window will pop and there you will see the size given in killobytes (k) and in bytes in paranthesis. The bytes in paranthesis is the number that must be below 20,000.
Let me know if this helps or if you hav any problems or questions.

subdirectory? You mean, like, save it to an image host, or to the paint program?

Subdirectory is the "location" that you save a file. Like "c:/programs/misc.txt"
"c:" is the drive letter. "/programs" is the subdirectory and "misc.txt" is the file.
After you modify the image in a paint program - save it, but remember where you saved it. Open up Windows Explorer - and find the file. Once you have the file located in Windows Explorer right click on it - a popup window will appear. Select properties and there it will show the size of the file.
Obviously this will only work in windows. If you want more help and you have AIM - you can IM me.

Here are two good sites -
AIMExpressions.com (http://www.aimexpressions.com/)
BadAssBuddy.com (http://www.badassbuddy.com)
BadAssBuddy - does have some more 'mature" themed icons. Obviously inappropriate for Entmoot. :D

Do you mean you don't know how to get an avatar in the entmoot, or can't find an icon to put as an avatar?
