If you browsed in the Middle Earth forum then you might have noticed a thread saying " Visual Companion".
Well, vc 2 is out now and that is dedicated to the two towers.
Just for those who need a new book to read.

Nilore If you want a new book to read, get the HoMe series. That's 12 books, and will take you the rest of your life to get through all of it.:D

I looked one over the other night. I thought the Riders of Rohan looked righteous, brave, grim and frightening! I think I'm gonna like Rohan!

Lizra was just referring to Tolkein's description of the Riders of Rohan, and her mental image of them, when she was reading the Two Towers... right?
What is a Visual Companion? I never saw the first thread.

No! :D I was referring to all the pictures of the Rohan warriors that I saw in the "BOOK" (Visual Companion) that has pictures from TTT movie. :)

Yeah, it gets to be slow going when you reading about the 6th time JRRT has change the spelling of some charater's name.

Perhaps i can help you. The Visual Compannion is a"book" but it holds pictures and decrpitions and commentary(on them) from the movie. They came out with one for FoTR and now they just came out with one for TTT.
Personaly i had to have a peek when i saw on the shelf.....sittin there...... mocking me. But when i opened it up and saw Treebeard i felt so guilty for not waiting, that i droped it and ran screaming from the store. Needless to say im quite proud of myself for both showing tremendous willpower and for scaring complete strangers.

I bought the first one. When I saw the second one at Barnes and Nobles, I did a little "Bilbo" bit...."And why shouldn't I see it! I'm a big girl, I can do what I want". Luckily, Gandalf wasn't there to make me feel guilty! :)

You guys with HoME should skip straight to book 10, Morgoth's Ring, and read "Athrabeth Finrod ah Andreth"! (couldn't resist putting in a plug for one of my favorite works :D ) Save the Trotter stuff for later. And even before that, get my personal favorite, The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien. Great book!
Have you waded thru all of HoME yet, SGH and Lefty?
Oh, and on-topic: I saw it in the store but was in a rush and knew if I peeked I would be there at least half an hour, so I turned my head away as I passed by it on the way out ;) . I'm looking forward to the Riders, too - Éomer has become one of my favorite characters the last couple times I read LoTR.

i should read HoME it would help if this illiterate country town in where i live had any half decent bookstores that had them... but i cant blame it all on that when i was in Hong Kong i found a huge bookstore tha had everything and i saw all the books but i got to reading the eye of the world and so i bought the great hunt instead absolutely fantastic... i did however get around to having a look at the visual companion i attracted weird stares but i figured i was in a different country they already think im weird stuff it and i stood my ground and had a squiz... im impressed

Your welcome is appreciated Nurvingial.
Rian-
I absolutly loved "The Debate" as it is often called between Andreth and Finrod in Morgoths Ring. Such wisdom is shown in the ability to state ones beliefs and listen and learn to others at the same time. I suppose thats why its refered to as a "debate" and not an argument. Which is such a constant in Tolkien, the ability even in disagreement to attempt at understanding, and holding to fair speach. I wish i saw more of that in my life elsewhere......
ps. I cant for the life of me figure out the diacritic for your name Rian, i think ive gone through every combination possible. So excuse the lack of accuracy. If you remember could you let me know what numbers equal that "i". Thanks

Welcome, Utúllelyo! Another Californian - yay! Are you northern or southern or mid? What does your name mean?
If you would like, you could do a search on "Athrabeth" and find the thread where Sister Golden Hair and Artanis and I discussed it at great length. It's in the Middle Earth forum, but we stopped about a month ago. It is a lovely work, isn't it!
And let me also try to tempt you over to the Writing in Tengwar thread in the Middle Earth forum - I really enjoy writing in Tengwar, and so do some other 'Mooters. You already seem familiar with it, so maybe you write it already, but you might want to say "hi" over there and check out some of our attachments and our "technical" discussions about s-curls and preceding nasal tildes, etc.
It looks like you figured it out, but just in case (or for someone else): I'm writing in English-mode Tengwar (vowels over the following consonant), using #25 (it's prettier than #21, IMHO :) ), then a carrier with the 'i' tehta, then the 'a' tehta over the 'n' tengwa.

Rian, I am still wading through HoMe. Of course the "Athrabeth" is still my favorite so far out of what I have read in the series.:)

Yes a Californian indeed. I am in mid as you put it. I doubt anyone who is not from San Bernadino County knows about Rancho Cucamonga, but never-the-less that is my dwelling. It is near L.A. (well thats the most well known place and the closest point of refereance that people would recognise).
As for my name, it 'tis a long story, so i will butcher it into a smaller peice. Originaly the idea came from a book known as The Celtic Reader. I was given a wonderful bit on a philosophy behind the steps in life. Such as where we begin and where we end and where we continue going. I cant get into it realy, its a little off topic. But i will say i took the word "Tul" which means "come" and the word "Tulle" meaning "came" and also the word "lelya"meaning to go, proceed(in any direction), and to travel. Well in Perfect tense meaning the equivelance in english is non existant, the closest you can come to "has come" which signifies both past and present tense is Utúlie. So i took the word Lelya and made it masculine and it becam Utúllelyo or for short Utúlio. It is one who is coming and is going, and he who continues coming. It represents my constant journey as a visitor to the realms of depression, hate, love, and humanity.
As for Tengwar i am not learned. Though considering that such talent does run in the family I no doubt should be able to write and understand it. But sadly that is not the case. Im am not gifted in the languages or their scripts in ME. I am a philosopoher of the terribly simple statements and therein find my inspiration and therefore therein i also, find my joy.
But it is well met RÃ*an, Long may you run, and long may you write.
