I've seen, either on Discovery or in some movie, some kind transportation device, which is just a rotor and controls and small platform for the pilot to stand on.

Have you heard of or seen what talking about?

It would be nice if one could actually get hold of such a device. And since it only consists of foldable blades on the rotor which is connected to an vertical engine and it has a small fuel tank (the size of a motorbike, for example, so that won't be too heavy). And finally a seat/platform with controls for the pilot. Would that do, do you think or is there a lot missing for the thing to work?

Another thought is that it should be collapsable all together so that one wouldn't need a "garage" for it, but instead could take it upp to one's apartment.
