I got this sweet idea for this message board, and I think everyone will like it. But I am not going to say what it is yet. I will however require the assistance of an admin or mod.
Gilthalion

Why?
Sauganast
09-07-2000, 12:10 PM
because otherwise it will not work. Things would get a little hectic and you wouldn't really be able to tell what's going on.

Actually, I am not gonna e-mail you, cuz I never go to check my e-mail. So I am just gonna tell you my idea. We should have riddle contest in this forum. People could take turns, the next person doesn't get to go till the previous riddle has been solved, the solver can then post their own riddle.

That would be a very good idea! I know lots of riddles :-)

Alrighty then, in honor of Bilbo, here is the first one:
What have I got in my pocket?
I'll even let each of you have three guesses?
(And I promise not to cheat! The answer is the contents of my pocket at the moment of this post. It will not change.)
Shanamir Duntak
09-26-2000, 01:02 AM
Car/home keys!

String or nothing.
Air.
The One Ring.
Gilthalion
09-27-2000, 12:28 AM
Air doesn't count, and string or nothing is a double guess!
And all of the rest of you are wrong, too!
I am a hobbit in a big hurry and I do not have my pocket handkerchief, though I wish I did!
I'm not Bilbo or Frodo and nobody trusted me to carry that One Ring around for some reason or other!
Muhoohooheeheehaha!
!!!!CHECK HERE FOR FRESH EDITS!!!!
================================================== =========
If you keep guessing, I'll keep checking back and I'll edit this post to let you know if you're right!
HINT: It is not the One Ring, but I do not want to lose it so I do what any prudent hobbit would do.
Fat middle
09-27-2000, 07:40 AM
home keys?
Hobbit Hood
09-27-2000, 04:49 PM
Bwah Hah Ha!
Nope, besides, Shan already guessed car/home keys! (Not quite fair. But everyone can guess three times!
I know what Gilthalion had in his pocket, because I took it!
ANOTHER CLUE: If a hobbit wants to keep something in his pocket safe, he might put it on a chain...
...not that it would stop me!

This is stretching it quite a bit, but sand? If it blows in your eyes, you're blinded. It's used in making glass which can in trun be made into glasses.
RovingTurtle
10-04-2000, 12:20 AM
YES!!!!!!!!!! A stretch it was but you are right. The glass and blowing in eye part was the first part (i read it somewhere dont remember where) and the second part i just made up to make it a little easier, but yes it is correct.
SAND. Now congratulations ur turn ;)

Not exactly a riddle in the classic sense, but find the explanation:
Victor was smartly dressed, well shaven, and with the best haircut he had had for years. Many of his friends and relatives saw him, yet no one complimented him. Why not?

If you add the letters N and O to "one" you get "no one".
RovingTurtle

I agree with Morkhon, /me wonders if its right
Sauganast
10-07-2000, 03:36 AM

Everything is there, but little is known of it.
So much is there, but yet so much is not.
Things come and go yet somethings always there.
Beyond there is everything but its hardly been touched.
This one is kind of different, but I think someone will get it. If not within a few days I will give hints. It is kind of a dumb riddle.
