I have a few casting "Questions" that I hope will spark up some interest (unless to my utmost dismay it has already been perused) and come to some knowledge as to what we WANT for these roles. First: ELROND- There has been little or no word on who is to play him....(some crazy buggers said David Bowie :D ) but aside from that..WHO would really fit the role? Well let's think of some requirments (suggestions are also welcome). Hair:Raven dark..greying a little bit. Eyes:Grey Height:I would imagine due to the common trait of being tall among elves...6'2-6'4? Personality:Soft spoken..very wise...a gentle yet highborn air. Any other thoughts are welcome! Next Up: EOWYN- Now HERE is a tough one...this role is also not yet cast (suuuuure Uma Thurman's rumoured...but hey....let's not be hasty okeeday?). I have doubts as to Mrs.Thurman's ability to pull this of...her acting is only so-so...really an unknown but GOOD actress is best.Peter Jackson choose CAREFULLY! Hair:Blonde Eyes-blue or grey Height-Tall Persona:A proud warrior maiden..yet able to show a soft side.... CASTING DOUBTS Well this is for those cast ALREADY.... Viggo Mortenson as Aragorn???I question this...would Townsend have been better?Hmmm..... AAAAnd Ethan Hawke as Faramir- That is one PATHETIC thing all those sorry hollywood buggers..cast a star make a buck! We don't NEEEEED that!Cast on merit PLEEEEAAASE! Ok guys...help me out here ....I have to pipe down :)

There`s a Canadian actor named Duncan Regehr who might make an intresting Elrond. He`s probably around 48-50 years old. He definitely has the height - 6'5". And he has a decent voice. And he can be rather intense if given the right role. He`s done some really ****py roles. Actually, I think he would have made an interesting Aragorn as well. I haven`t seen him in anything lately. I don`t know what he looks like these days. Just a thought.

As for Eowyn, PLEASE NOT UMA THURMAN! She is so far off of how I see Eowyn. Besides, I don`t think she`s a particularly good actress. In fact, she quite annoys me! I hope Uma as Eowyn remains just that - a rumor!

PipSky!! oh my goodness. How did you get here? (I am sometimes Arien you know) I'm not sure about the casting. So far it seems okay, from what I've heard. For most of the actors this is the first time I've heard of them, or else just I've seen just one movie with them (here were my reactions: Elijah-:), Sean Astin-:), Rhys-Davies-?, Ethan-:P, Uma-:P). So I can't really say whether they'll do well. I hope they will do their best!

Welcome to Entmoot! Just a note: hair and eye color is unimportant, since they can change that easily.

Eowyn is, IMO, by far the most difficult to cast. No, correction, that would have to be Gollum (unless he's all CG). As for suggestions... I dunno... that's a really tough choice there... with some makeup work and costuming, I was thinking even Natalie Portman might be viable, but she's commited to SW... Milla Jovovich - great warrior actress as Joan of Arc, but probably a poor Eowyn (better than Uma though). Gwyneth Paltrow? Nah, looks slightly too old for the role. Oh wait... burst of inspiration... no, I lost it.

How about Lucy Lawless (Xena)?

I think i´m the only one who´d like to see Uma as Eowyn. I can see her. She can be stern as Eowyn, and i trust in her acting skill to be as weak, sad and hopeless as the healing scenes may require. But for Ethan, definitly i can´t see him as Faramir. I´m always stuck with feet and inches measures and its conversions to cm, but all i remember is that Elrond is taller than Aragorn and of course Boromir, as well as Glorfindel. But i don´t think that´s nothing as important. I´m courious: has been cast the role of Denethor? Now i imagine him as Charlton Heston. I was very impressed by his performace in Branagh´s Hamlet. For me it was the best of that movie. I think he math very well for the role of the old steward.

He would be very good, but I doubt he'll get cast. Just doesn't seem to go with the way they're casting.

I want Dustin Hoffman as Denethor.

I liked that performance in Hamlet too, Fat Middle. But for anyone as Denethor: can he be noble enough to get respect, but also do the paranoia and insanity?

With those kinds of criteria, Jack Nicholson comes to mind. :P But seriously, Dustin Hoffman... Joan of Arc's conscience meets Rain Man... I can really visualize him as Denethor...

MaxVonSydow should have been Gandalf (or at least Saruman!) Surprisingly, I agree about David Bowie as Elrond! (don't hit me too hard!) Eowyn? I can't fight off the face of the actress who played Elizabeth in the eponymous recent movie... Gollum? I don't remember the actor's name, but he played deVries in the movie Dune. He is usually cast for those kind of weird perturbated characters (i'll try to remember the name!) (Brad Dourif... thank you ben!)

Interesting you mention Dune. I saw the movie this afternoon. DeVries was played by Brad Dourif, who has already been cast in the movie as Wormtongue :)

"Eowyn? I can't fight off the face of the actress who played Elizabeth in the eponymous recent movie..." She's been signed on as Galadriel. "Brad Dourif... thank you ben!" And he's been cast for Wormtongue.

Yeah, I said that :P. He originally couldn't remember Dourif's name, but after I provided it in the next post he edited his :P

"Eowyn is a tough one... a good yet pretty actress should be chosen." That is tough. More specifically, we want an actress who can play a noble, heroic character yet remain feminine. (TRANSLATION: You people who even dare to mention Lucy Lawless disgust me.)

Eowin? No contest: it's Linda Hunt! (yes, the one that won the oscar for her role in Year of Living Dangerously...)
