Who has read bored of the rings, what did you think of it?

I actually read a bit of it before I got distracted by something else... I'm going to finish it sometime.
It's really, really over-the-top... hilarious, but definitely in a guilty pleasure sort of way, like what the movie Spaceballs did to Star Wars. It seems that it throws every conceivable joke at you, and while about half of them hit, the other half misses... but hey, at least some hit, right?

My Dad read it as a kid, and I can not find it anywhere, not the library, not any bookstore...to read it so that I can decide if I like it or not so that I can post on this lovely forum ;) and therefore let my opinion be known.
The End............or not.
And what if I CAN'T make myself read it?! What if I feel like it would offend my dearest Frodo B. ?! What if I feel like it would just ruin my view of the books (at least for a day or two) and the movie?!
*begins to hyperventilate wildly* *calms down* Ya know, I don't think I'm ready for the emotional stress it would cause me... Sorry about all that. Just a little glimpse of my little used, and rarely seen split-personality. I'm weird like that at night :D (it is 8:41 pm here).

I have an ancient copy that's falling apart. It's hysterically funny if you like the Lampoon-ish humour.
Spam and Legolam! :D
edited to request this be put in the other "real" Bored thread. sorry for clicking on the wrong thing and starting a new thread when I just meant to reply :( :o

Read it years ago; would be amazed if it hadn't been re-released to take advantage of the films. Very funny. However, if memory serves, it falls into the trap of most spoof-type things in that it ends up taking its own story too seriously. There are some great jokes in it, though

I just found the humour to be repetitve, boring, and not particularly clever. But then again, I didn't make past the first few pages, so maybe it picks up?

Blackboar, it's not new at all. My paperback copy is dated 1969. It was written by the folks at the Harvard Lampoon. It's very funny IF you like the Lampoon type of humour.
