Where in the world do you just have no desire to visit.

Mine would have to be New Jersey, Afganistan, Any where with sharks.

What do you have against afghanistan?

I'd like to visit lots of places... if only to get a better idea of different cultures. I think I'd only really draw the line at places which have the potential to put me in danger. So, some of the hot spots in the middle east, and Africa are out for the moment. Although, ONE day I'd like to do a dig in the region of the Gaza strip... if it ever settles down. There's so much history in that region.

Any place in a desert. I hate the heat, grit, sand, and I love trees, which I hear deserts are kinda short on. Oh yeah, I like lots of water. The real stuff, not a mirrage.

i want to go to most places if only to see wha tthey were like. however i dont really want to visit the dentist's office...although i did today...oh well. i dont want to go to texas or back to florida (too hot) or africa (except maybe egypt). i dont want to go to mordor, naturally. strange as it may seem i do want to go to afganistan. not for long though. i have no real desire to go to china or japan but i wouldnt mind either. i dont want to go to school next tuesday...ok well maybe i do but i dont want to go to gym class!

hmmm well i'd hate to be dragged to Cumbria (if thats even a real place - i have no idea and i dont really care).

I just said that because I live in New Jersey. I'm sorta insulted that you would list NJ FIRST on your list of places you don't want to visit. I got over it pretty fast but why would you say that? There is nothing wrong with NJ its just like any other state....... If you said that because JD advertises that he is from NJ - then that is understandable :D (note the smiley).

So you ended up trying to start something about New Jersey anyway. I'd HAPPILY give you a tour of NJ. But you probably just don't want to come here because we DO have sharks. Jaws is based on the NJ Shark Summer of 1916. You can read about them in these two books that came out last summer.

Close to Shore: A True Story of Terror in an Age of Innocence (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0767904133/qid=1030684642/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/102-4645904-7881749?v=glance&s=books)
Twelve Days of Terror: A Definitive Investigation of the 1916 New Jersey Shark Attacks (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/158574297X/ref=pd_bxgy_img_2/102-4645904-7881749?v=glance&s=books).

So that must be the real reason you don't want to come to New Jersey.

By the way I found this -

Coca-Cola's boost to tourism in Cumbria - The Lake District

Coca-Cola has teamed up with Cumbria Tourist Board to run some special promotions in supermarkets across the region. The partnership is part of the on-going campaign to help Cumbria recover from the effect of the Foot and Mouth crisis that affected the UK.

Don't you just hate American companies. :) You can't get away from us - American's are EVERYWHERE. :D

Angband, Cirith Ungol, Mordor, Minas Morgul, Thangorodrim, Orodruin, Nargothrond once Glaurung was through with it, Dol Guldur, Helcaraxe, Utumno, Avathar (the place Ungoliant lived). All those are places I would not want to go.

One place I'd find interesting (after the War of the Ring) would be Moria.

I wouldn't want to go anywhere with lots of jungle and nasty bugs. Like South America or Africa. I'm more of a Europe kind of person.

I had a friend that went on an Amazon cruise. I would like to take an Africa Safari, Oh wait - this a "where we wouldn't want to go" thread. There aren't too many places for me - I'd liek to see everything. Although I would not like to be in the center of an erupting volcano. Or in San Francisco during an earthquake.

I'm just evil to people that don't like us. And if that's the whole world - then oh well. :)

By the way BoP - one of the participating attractions in the Coke Cola promotion thing is just for you - Lakeland Sheep & Wool Centre. :D You better get yourself up to Cumbria right quick. :)

I love travelling and seeing new places, so I'm not sure if there is a place I would not visit. Perhaps places with a lot of mosquitos.

And the dentists, of course. :(

Philistines.. I visit Castle Rigg (in Cumbria) every May Day and it's just beautiful.

As for places I wouldn't want to visit.....

A lot of Russia doesn't interest me. A friend of mine moved out there and he says the standard of living is just appalling (not to mention the crime rate)

Australia......heat (yuck)......and if their society is anything like that neighbours tv programme it will be just too terribe to contemplate
;)

Ah, and there was I in the Lakes all last week, up on the fells, walking round the lakes, spending time in great pubs serving proper beer, watching rugby league games... if ONLY I had known there was a special regional deal on a gut rotting soft drink!

You know me, always in moderation! Plus it depends on the beer...I wouldn't trust the stuff pumped full of chemicals in the big fizz factories, but I was sticking to real ale...the Coniston Bluebird was spot on, shame I can't find it on draught anywhere else!

Was a seriously good holiday - nobody here can believe I've got a deep tan from a week in Lakeland!

So you have all been sampling jennings then? The brewery is just over the river from my house i can see it from my mum and dads bedroom :) .

me and my mates managed a dareing robbery the other week. the beer store backs onto the river and theres a hole in the fence we floated some beer down the river and into my house were we are working on drinking it :D

Yup had a pint of Sneck Lifter in a pub near Grasmere...very nice it was too!

Don't worry, I know all about Cumbria's usual weather, visit it quites often with it being quite close! That said, we ARE usually quite lucky...only suffered one one deluge to date (weekend of the Barrow v Widnes game, "summer" of 2000).

I don't really like small towns, with a ton of old buildings they are freaky.

I wouldn't want to go to anyplace that scorns music or is big on rap, even though I live in Boston, MA, and am big on NYC.

What's wrong with NJ? I practically live there during the summer because I have cousins down there. I find it beautiful.

I wouldn't want to go away from the big cities. I'm a city person, but I love nature too.

I'm not big on Mexico and Spain. No offense, I'm just not.

I wouldn't go to any city more than once by choice, and I'm not too interested in Africa or Asia. America's the place I really really want to visit, and I want to go round Europe a lot more too. But the best place to explore is Britain, for me.

But if I had to choose just one to never visit, it would have to be Hull! :D
