When I was participating in a trivia question the other day, a friend and I noticed that his appendices were more detailed than mine. In particular, his version gave June 29 as the day that Gandalf met Radagast on the Greenway. I have three different editions of LOTR, and NONE of them has this date. His version were the Ballantines (don't know the date, but they were recent). My Unwin 1981 all-in-one has only got the story of Aragorn and Arwen, and both my Folio set (Reprinted 1997 from 1977) and my HarperCollins (Reprinted 1991) seem to be missing certain dates, and yet they are both fairly recent reprints. Does anyone have any idea why this is so, and which edition has the best and most comprehensive version of the appendices?

My appendices have June 29 as the date that Gandalf meets Radagast. I also have the Ballantine edition, but I'm not sure when they were printed either. The first Ballantine printing was in October 1965. I bought mine in the summer of '99 I believe.

Thanks for the correction, Khamul. (Hard to know, since I don't have the date.)
Is there a definitive online source?

I don't have that date either. My ROTK are the LOTR movie cover editions.
