The marketing logic behind transforming Arwen into a swordswoman is to open up the movie's appeal to a wider female audience. Which makes me wonder: is Galadriel's role going to be expanded too? And are there going to be scenes with her chopping heads off with a broadsword?

Heh, probably just as likely!

Or Galadriel will have magical powers, surpassing even Gandalf's.
And in the end, the last scene will be that of the wedding between Gandalf and Galadriel, and at the moment they will kiss, they will transform themselves into rays of light with a background music that will make John Williams jealous, with a chorus of angels.
And they will live happilly ever after, guarding MiddleEarth with they benevolent superduperwowmagical powers.
(Did you get sicker Darth? :p ;) )

Or, if Sir Ian can pull a few strings, he might ask PJ that Gandalf and Aragorn get married...

Arwen climbed up and found Galadriel beside Aragorn and Celeborn. The Lady of the Galadrim was loading another clip into Nenya, her ring of power.
"Twenty-one!" said Arwen.
"Good!" said Galadriel. "But my count is now two dozen." Then turning she called lustily to her companion: "Give me a kiss, Celeborn!"

This is very difficult for me. You're lucky I'm a strong admin or you'd all be banned ;)

An admin with a fairly strong stomach, anyways. Or just a really ruggedized keyboard so it still functions even after you regurgitate on it a few times.

Actually, this reminds me of a rather funny LOTR story they posted at TOR.net a while back, in which the return of the fellowship to the Shire was just a bit different..... Here's the relevent excerpt.
Frodo turned around to face Galadriel and spoke quickly. "Okay lady. You're on. Just like I taught you."
Galadriel sighed, but quickly threw aside her Elven cloak and mantle to reveal quite a lot of supple black,
brown, and red leather underneath. Her armor covered enough to maintain family viewability, but exposed bits
that any decent armorer would consider much too important not to protect.
With a cry of "yi yi yi yi yi yi yi!" She leapt forward, doing a triple somersault in the air, and landing with a
thigh-high leather boot planted on the chests of each of the first two men in line.
Frodo watched in amusement as Galadriel then proceeded to punch, kick, chop, and throw men around until all
ten of her attackers had had quite enough and ran off across the fields, bleeding, limping, and blowing horns as
they ran.
Galadriel rejoined the procession and readjusted her mantle and cloak over her armor. There was a fire in her
eyes that Frodo had not seen before. Apparently, she had enjoyed herself.
"Heh heh." Chuckled Frodo. "I knew that would come in handy sooner or later."

You know, according to UT, Galadriel was quite the athlete when she was younger: "...she was strong of body, mind and will, a match for both the loremasters and athletes of the Eldar in the days of their youth." Sounds like she would be ideal material for a martial arts expert. According to the description above, she's no doing to badly for someone who's over 8000 years old.
