I was dissapointed they skipped this part in the old forest in the movies but who is this guy?

Is he an elf, human, Valinor, Maiar, or what?

He seems to have eternal youth stating that "When the elves passed west, Tom was here".

What is he excalty? I couldn't find anything about him anywhere.

I believe that the identity of Bombadil is one of the great mysteries of Middle Earth, you can check out the opinions of the Mooters here (http://entmoot.tolkientrail.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4818&highlight=Bombadil)

The Ainur are divided into the Valinor and the Maiar. It is highly unlikely that he is a Valinor because after the end of the first age, all of them went west over the sea.

In my opinion he is a great Maiar. In the books, it was stated somewhere that Sauron was perhaps the Greatest of the Maiar, but actually I think he is. Maiar are vastly powerful as dragons, Balrogs, and Gandalf and Saruman are all Maiar.

There is one other possibility--that he is Illuvatar the father that created the world himself since he is called "one without a father."

Tom Bombadil is just a special character, he's one of a kind. He's not one of the Mair or Ainur, he's just him. Try to not start threads also that have been started already.

Here we go again... This has been discussed many times, with the most recent one being in the link posted by Elvellon. I personally believe that Tom is the Witch-King.:D (Read the thread, you'll understand)

You also might want to try the search feature in the top right corner.:)

There is already a thread about the Nature of Tom Bombadil here (http://www.tolkientrail.com/entmoot/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4818&highlight=Bombadil). Next time you should use vbulletins search features or browse around the forums before starting a thread.
