In the movies, I mean. Things like the orcs, Gandalfs tricks... etc.

Well, to start-off... I'd like to see Saruman of many colors. I bet they can't handle the cloak (and the hat :) ) the way I imagined it.

How about you?

Balrog.

The Balrog scene, Battle of the Pelennor fields, Eowyn and the Witch-king, destroying the Ring.

i swear i've replied to this discussion before...

anyway...

- eowyn & the witch-king
- shelob
- pyre of denethor
- lothlorien
- moria, esp. balrog & gandalf
- <growl> tom bombadil (OK, now i KNOW i've replied to this - i had a nice little symbol-rant about a certain character's exclusion) <hiss>

also, if they do it right, the tale of aragorn & arwen. but i don't trust the movie industry to NOT sapify it.

I wanna see the heads catapulted into Minas Tirith. Maybe they'll use a 'cattle-pult'.

The Holy Marriage of Galadriel and Gandalf...

You'll see, you'll see...

To ban or not to ban, that is the question ;)

I say we ban him just for the fun of it..... ;)

How about the battle scenes where there are trolls?

Stiegl
06-23-2000, 01:55 AM
Yes, Trolls would be pretty cool to see. I would also like to see how Mr. Jackson develops the Barrow Wights, but unfortunately...

I am really looking forward to seeing the whole Return of the King because I had the misfortune of seeing the dumb cartoon before I read the book, so it's taken me a few readings over the years to get the awful images and dramatization of Rankin and Bass out of my head as I was going through the book.

One scene I'm sure the people at Weta will do a great job with is the depiction of the Dead Men of Dunharrow.

Anduin & Darth Tater - if y'all didn't ban people for the OTHER comment on who'd marry Gandalf...

Nazgul...lots of Nazgul.

I am dying to see the Battle of the Pelennor and Lothlorien. I hope that justice is done to both scenes.

Yeah, that ought to be cool, too. I remember the cartoon (sort of...it was Bakshi, right?) version of LOTR...I believe it was Helm's deep...the live-action animation tricks were incredibly creepy, and the battle was truly frightening. I can't wait to see the arrows raining down, and dead orcs piling up!

etherealunicorn
07-08-2000, 05:27 AM
yeah, I'd like to see Helm's deep, as well as the last battle before the gates of Mordor. and now that I think about it, I think that I would love to see Gandalf's fireworks, especially the dragon one.
Hehehehe, I thought the animation in that bakshi one was kinda creepy. Especially in the last few minutes, with the impalings and decapitations.

I'd like to see Saruman imprison Gandalf to Orthanc. And I'd also like to see Gandalf taking Saruman's staff after the destruction of Isengard. And then the scouring of Shire and Saruman's death would be cool too. :)

Saruman lives! http://www.earlyng.homestead.com/files/saruman.gif

Sadly, I believe they're cutting the scouring of the Shire

Bummer.

But how are they going to arrange Saruman's death? Is he going to die in Isengard?

I am definently excited about seeing Gandalf's battle with the Balrog at Orthnac.... to me definently one of the most exciting and HOPEFULLY visually stunning points of the movie.

I am most looking forward to seeing many of the characters, especially Gollum. I just hope that they spend a lot of time getting him to be just right, and that they make him kinda creepy and not to computerized looking.

But I am also looking forward to Moria and the Balrog, but that's what everyone else said, so I decided to say something else. ;)

The Balrog, Mordor, the siege of Minas Tirith (Arwen killing Sauron) :) , Lothlorien, Gollum and the elves...

I'm sorry but most of all I'd have to say the Nazgul are gonna be hard to portray. Especially the parts where Frodo sees them when he's wearing the ring (eg stabbed by the nazgul king). If it's done well I am seriously gonna be impressed by Peter Jackson and Weta, go NZ film!

Hey Everybody you forgot the scene with Boromir when he kills all those orcs!

That's outta be really good. And when Legolas kills a flying Nazgul beast with one shot of arrow!

And I really want to see the battle with Faramir...

Sorry but i prefers human warriors to elves and others... :)

The Nazgul and Sauron. It was the Nazgul who first mesmerized me when I started reading LOTR. But, of course, I was rooting for the good guys!

Nice board! :)

Hi, Old Wych!

I found this board by seeing a signature post on the ezboard forums and thought, "Oh, cool! A Tolkien board! Must visit!" And here I am. :)

Yes, Shanamir Duntak, you got it first! :)

YOU can call me Shan... That's for close friends... :)

Anyway, I would have chosen just Shanamir as a name but the registration thingy told me there was already another Shanamir... so I had to add a family name... :)

Feel free to call me Shan everybody...

* The Death of the Witch King
* The Scouring of the Shire. Which I hear from you guys they aren't putting in :( But that is such an important scene because it shows how much the hobbits have changed over the course of their journey.
* oh and the Balrog scene
* I am also interested in what the different lands will look like

Another good scene will be the one with Glorfindel.
When the Nazguls falls in the river and all...

The part where the Dead Men of Dunharrow scare the wits out of all those orcs on the ships...

And... where didn you hear that they're not putting the Scouring of the Shire in the movie?

I am guessing that the computer enhanced vistas of New Zealand will be wonderful when transformed into the varied landscapes of Middle Earth.

Picking a favorite scene is nearly impossible. It is hard to beat Gandalf withstanding the Balrog in the fire lit halls of ancient Moria!

But what of Aragorn with kingly countenance at the pillars of the Argonath? Eowyn and Merry against the Witch King? Galadriel at the Mirror? The Last Homely House?

I imagine that the image that comes first to most, and lingers longest and is most dear to the heart, is Hobbiton and The Hill.

(Sigh)
