Nope, not "our" Elanor. i'm referring to that rumor about Alexandra Astin (daughter to Sean) going to play Elanor in LOTR. TOR.N has posted two picts saying that they may be or not Sean and Alexandra. here's one of them:

They're hobbits! They'll look small in any case!

It's a minor part, and it shouldn't matter if a toddler plays Elanor. Peter would have loved to have included the Epilogue in the films, I'm told, but he can't do that legally. So maybe including Sean's daughter is a wistful nod in that direction anyway.

The Epilogue, for those who are unaware, is the true ending to The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien removed it on the advice of other people, and he came to regret the decision. It has since been published by Christopher Tolkien in Sauron Defeated, volume IX of The History of Middle-earth. It shows Sam talking to most of his children (some hadn't yet been born), reading from the Red Book.

It would have been a great closure to the book, at least as good as "Well, I'm back".

Yeah, I saw that in a store and read the different versions of the epilogue. Probably the most interesting thing in the HoME books :) . I don't think it was essential to the story, since the fate of the characters is shown in the appendices. In fact, it's almost better to just guess what happened to Sam and his family.
