My opinion on that is probably DBZ but thats just cause its got about 100 episodes where the only thing that happens is some guy is standing there screaming while he gets stronger.

Whats your opinion? What(in your opinion) is the WORST ANIME EVER! :D

I think they all suck, and the people who make them have WAY to much time on their hands and sick minds.

Hey, hey, HEY, I agree that lemons and hentai and (ugh) DBZ are awful. So is Pokemon and Sailor Moon (I liked it when I was younger though). Not ALL anime is bad though. Card Captor Sakura is very cute in my opinion (Not the Americanized version. Ugh.) and Gundam Wing isn't half bad either.

LOL!:D

Personally, I just didn't get Akira. I don't know what is the big deal with that movie. Maybe the manga was good, but when they condensed it to the movie, too much got lost. By the time the guy turns into the giant expanding tissue mass that engulfs the city.... I gave up trying to figure it out.

Oh! on a tangent, don't you hate it when you are watching an OVA, and you get really into the story and it's soooooo good...and then it just stops. There's no ending. They only made the first couple volumes of the manga into a series and just didn't bother to do the rest so the OVA leaves you hanging.
This has happened to me with: Gunnm (Battle Angel Alita), Please Save my Earth, Angel Sanctuary, to name a few.
I'd hunt down the manga, but I don't read Japanese.

Oh! yeah, that brings up something else.

Americanized versions aimed at kids are almost always worse than the original. I think the networks think that Americans are idiots or something because they make the most frivolous changes. Some name changes are pretty strange. And they don't mind leaving in the violence but it's amazing the lengths they will go to to expunge all references to, say...homosexuality. That seems to be a big one. I was only half amused to see they changed a male character into a female character (e.g. Zoisite in Sailormoon) to avoid the issue. Now, as far as the sexual content goes, I don't mind too much if they add in some discreet cover-up when things are too...revealing, but complete gender changes are ridiculous. Chickens!
Escaflowne was cut up beyond recognition and they took the best parts out of Outlaw Star.

I hate dubs!

Princess Mononoke

YES!!! I'm not a big fan of Anime either, but this movie seriously kicks butt!! It's definately up there in my top ten movie list. Trust me on this, watch this one, it deals with industrialism killing off nature, and stuff. It's just an amazingly beautiful story, with really really amazingly drawn graphics. *sigh* I gotta go watch that again...

ERGH. Sailormoon was suxor. I couldn't STAND it...

I have to agree with the American version of Card Captor Sakura and Escaflowne. Darn dubbers.  ;)

Yu Yu Hakusho. 'Nuff said.

The art in Angel Sanctuary is great. The storyline...

And the seventies Gundam series. :D As my friend said, "It's disco Zechs!"

DBZ, Pokemon, and Sailor Moon are all baaaad. I used to watch Digimon all the time, and I loved it until the 3rd season hit. Things got really busy for me and i only saw the first episode. Then it got all confusing when I did try to watch it so i just quit. I didn't like the style of the 3rd season as well as the 1st 2 either. The second season rocked! Other than that i haven't seen any anime.

DBZ is horrible! It's only plot is for big, mucsly, sweating guys with huge veins in their necks to beat eachother up. And Akira makes absolutely no sense to me, but it's nice to know I'n not the only one confused by it!

Exactly! I don't remember's Ruby's Japanese name, but he was a BOY for Heero's sake! Couldn't they've just left it in there? Yuki/Toya and Syao/Yuki was cut out too. They made it seem like Syaoran (Not Li. SYAORAN!) was afraid of him. Ai-oi... They also had something with foreign items too. They cut out scenes with chopsticks, covered up Chinese/Japanese writing, whatever! Beware! *Dun dun duuun* THE EVIL CHOPSTICKS!!!! For Heero's sake...

I find it hard to believe that someone would lump it all as bad. Have you turned into a geriactric grump or something? I suggest renting Spirited Away or Princess Mononoke. Absolutely brilliant pieces of movie-dom.

I think Pokemon, Digimon, and Sailor Moon are dumb. And DBZ is trash. I like Yu-Gi-Oh, but not as much anymore as I did a few months ago because every Yu-Gi-Oh fan site I go to keeps saying "Oh, the sub is so much better and you suck if you like the dub" and stuff like that. When I researched the stuff that was changed in the dub, I found that Malik's name was going to be changed to Terrence. I mean, TERRENCE??! An Egyptian named Terrence??? I'm glad they settled on Marik...I dunno why they had to change any names.

Oh yeah, and this is Malik:

I luv Malik! =3

I've seen them, didn't care for them.
I just dont see why such badly drawn cartoons are so popular, but then again, maybe I do know why as I have a couple teens myself. :D:rolleyes:

It is quite possible Snowdog that you haven't been exposed to any great anime. I would be curious to know which series/movies you have been basing your opinions on. I would have to agree that there is certainly bad anime out there and anime that adults would find less than entertaining. But there are some real gems out there too. Princess Mononoke, Cowboy Bebop, Rouroni Kenshin/Samurai X......just to name a few. If you are judging all anime on what is shown in America to our kids (pokemon, digimon, etc.....) then perhaps you don't have a complete picture of the genre.

I guess one would have to want to be exposed to it. I've seen mononoke and kishara, and some others. From what I can tell it is all pretty much drawn the same.. big eyes and tiny pointy noses... no thanks.

Yeah, the big eyes are scary. 0.0
I don't have much access to anime where I live. We don't have Rurouni Kenshin, Cowboy BeBop, Inuyasha, Trigun, or any of that stuff. We've got Pokemon, Digimon, etc. They even took off Esca Flowne so they could put on more Pokemon! I should've complained because I loved Esca Flowne! And they took off Gundam Wing to make room for Medabots! Because of this, I can't really give a good opinion on anime. I've also never seen Spirited Away or Princess Monoke or anything because my parents don't like anime.
And something that really bothers me that's a bit off-topic so I'll keep it short: what IS it with girls and marrying anime characters? I mean, I went to this one Seto Kaiba shrine and the only reason the webmistress made it was to show off her marriage and keeper certificates of Kaiba and talk about how hot he is. 0_0 I mean, I like Seto and all, but I think saying he's "hot" or "sexy" is a little strange. I'd say he's good-looking for an anime character, but not that far! And this one girl claims she's going to become "Mrs. Kenshin Himura". Sheesh.

Is that any different than all of the Legolas, Sam, Aragorn, Frodo, etc. lovers out there?

Ahh I see Snowdog. Well there's not much you can do about it if you don't like the style of animation. Too bad. Japanese (IMO) are such better story tellers than their American counterparts.
