Cyborg starring Jean Claude Van Damme is without a doubt the worst film I have ever seen. Every second word in the script is "YAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHH!!!!!", I kid you not!.
There's one bad guy in it who, on dying, takes about half an hour, all the time yelling "YAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGHHH!!!!" very slowly.
It's so excruciatingly bad it's hilarious! ;)

Lady Hawk - bad retro soundtrack, and cheesiest ending I think I've EVER seen.
Return to Oz.
Crash. It was just plain creepy.
GI Jane. 'Nuff said.
13th Warrior - Just plain boring.
Anything with Jean Claude Van Damm or Steven Seagal.
Anything with Mary Kate & Ashley Olsonn (ergh.)
Jurassic Park 2. Dumb, dumb, dumb, ending.
Steven Speilbergh: post AND including schindlers list. He's become too schmaltzy.
Jackie Chan's American cross-over. WHAT was he thinking?!
Psycho sequels & the remake. Why DID they bother?!
Dumb and Dumber, Me myself and Irene... and just about all Jim Carry movies.
Entrapment.
Blue Lagoon, and 2.
Armageddon.
Julia Roberts movies. Mostly. (With the exception of Pretty woman, and Erin Brokovich)
Deep Blue Sea, Anaconda... etc.
Hollow man.
There's probably more, but that's all I can think of right now...

Some of the stuff they dig up on Mystery Science Theater 3000 is bad.
I thought Pearl Harbor was terrible. The story was completely predictable after the first hour (even for a guy like me who doesn't normally watch romance movies), I could have chopped the entire 3rd hour off the movie, and nobody told me that it was a love story, not a war movie. These are all personal reasons, but it still was a bad movie.

It's pointless and fruitless to name the worst movies ever, I find, because first of all, there are all the intentionally-bad B-movies, or those that are just designed to make a few quick bucks off gullible kids or teenyboppers, or movies that are... well, just bad.
In other words, the selection is far too wide, and there are simply so many bad films that I haven't seen and never intend to see.
However, I will point out some films that are generally considered to be good, in which I almost didn't see anything at all. Of more recent releases, the absolutely atrociously puke-ifiable Erin Brockovich come to mind...

i completely agree with Nutty Professer 2. It was the most boring 2 hours og=f my life. i was constantly looking at my watch while my friend was roaringwith laughter. it was awful!
Why does everyone have a hate for armageddon? I quite likeit. will never watch it again as it is guaranteed to make me into a living waterfall yet again but oh well. I'm surprised no one has mentioned North yet.

I agree, Universal Soldier: The Return was a disgrace.
I actually liked 'O Brother Where Art Thou' :D
Oh and I think Sigourney Weaver's mere presence in the Aliens movies makes the movies bad, 'Aliens' would have been great without her in it in my oppinion.
I can usually tell which movies I'll like or don't like, so I don't have too extensive a list of my personal hated movies.

I saw a bit of Armageddon the other night and I remembered how bad it was.
I only watched the first hour of Nutty Professor 2.

I though the animated film was hilarious! wasnt meant to be but it was sooo bad! I mean Aragorn was wearing a skirt or rather an abscence of skirt.
and the way they ended it was so quick!
The sequel plague wont affect FOTR because they were all filmed at the same time so they're all going to be about the same quality.
Star Wars. Thos new sequels are awful. i dont know why i didnt mention them before. the original three were excellent, have been watchingthem since i were a tyke but the new ones, ugh. They're just a love story now! *sigh* and i had hopes for them!

I think Titanic became such an unpopular movie because everyone was interested in the historical aspect. When it turned out to be a cheesey romance... ::tries desperately to vomit::
Almost any movie made by Disney (although Disneyworld isn't half bad)

If it is a historical veiw on the Titanic that you want then I'd recomend an older movie called A Night To Remember.
As for worst movies I vote for (1) The French Lietenaints Woman because you could not follow the plot, (2) Rocky and Bullwinkle because they left out the plot and (3) Mulan Rouge because every last note of that sound tract was stolen from some other show.

I agree with StrawberryIceCream on Stargate. It's a great movie! I actually like the series better, because I like the guy from MacGuyver (can't remember his name...oi...) and the guy who plays Daniel.

Ah! I know one MUCH worse.
The worst movie ever made…that’s easy, a certain version of Snow White. A very artistic movie made in Black & Black… that’s right, you can hear the actors but you can’t see them, DURING ALL THE MOVIE.

Yes, but unbelievably as it seems there is more. The Director actually filmed the thing but kept the lens of the cameras covered. Everything was done as a regular film, except for that; the actors actually played their roles dressed appropriately for it on appropriate stage settings. Of course the result was a scandal.

Who can really know?
But, to me, it has to do with the nature of some of the European movie industry. Contrary to what happens in the USA, in Europe the State has an important role supporting the industry. This allows small countries to be able to preserve their movie industries, that otherwise would have been wiped out by having to compete with Hollywood.
It allows to the production of some non-commercial but interesting films, with a decisive cultural or artistic bent. Unfortunately it also allows, on occasion, to the production of really odd (or plainly bizarre) films. The director of this film is well known for his eccentricity, but this time he took it a little too far. It was a scandal and he may well have shot his own foot.

#3. Not Another Teen Movie (No explanation needed)

Oh my gosh. Dragon Heart 2:A new Beginning and Ralph Bashki's cartoon of LOTR. I LOVE Dragonheart, but the sequel is just DUMB.Bad fighting, worse acting, and just dumb. I mean we have Karate which I think does NOT go with Western European Middeveal fighting. And the end is supposed to be profound and wonderful and what YOU'RE thinking is "Too bad the kid didn't DIE!"Terrible Movie. Just TERRIBLE. *wishes you could draw a puking face*
RB's LOTR on the other hand made me laugh so hard I couldn't breath. I mean I didn't mind the terrible orcs and nazgul. That was actually kind of cool, but the DRAWINGS are what got me. Legolas just had me howling the way he sneers at Sam and his TEETH, the Balrog made me instantly think of the old Sunday School Song "If I were a butterfly,I'd thank you Lord for giving me wings" and the hobbits hair wasn't curly. The nerve of some people. It was all in all a hilariously rip off of the Lord Of The Rings, now I want to go and see the LIVE LOTR and remind myself of how GOOD it was.

I know a flick that makes "Plan 9 From Outer Space" look like high art. Anyone ever see "Santa Clause Conqours the Martians"? But then again these movies are sooo bad that watching them is hip. Much like one of my all time faves, " Attack of the Killer Tomatoes." Which if you have not seen...well, what are you waiting for rent it tonight!
I have a real beef with all these old Saturday morning cartoons being turned into movies. "Scooby Doo" is so painful I cheered for the bad guys. (Come on someone kill Shaggy before he talks again! Hey Scooby, snack on this!)
Of course there was that really horrible flick that came out (by the author of Jurasic Park) "Congo." Any movie with killer apes is generally bad news. Look no further than the idiotic remake of the eternally horrible, "Planet of the Apes."

Agreed on Planet of the Apes. Mark Wahlberg (I think that's how you spell it) trying to replace a character that Charlton Heston played........enough said.
My Pretty Pony had a movie? You poor child.
And "Santa Claus Conquers the Martians"? That actually sounds fairly amusing. Reminds me of a Weird Al song... i can't remember the title, but I know it had to do with Santa getting drunk, blowing up the North Pole, and making Rudolph into reindeer sausage........now that I describe it, it sounds more disturbing than amusing. But that's Weird Al for you.
The two movies he made we fairly awful as well. Him and that guy who plays Kramer should be kept 50 miles away from each other at all times, lest we risk the chance of the apocalypse once more.

I can see why a lot of people liked it, but I never wanted to see it from the time I saw the previews (I knew how it would end already, and I really didn't want to see that). When I finally did see it (my sister in law loved it and bought the video, so we thought we'd watch it to see what all the hype was about), I didn't think the inner story line was believable enough to be included in a true story, and I just didn't like it, like I knew I wouldn't.

I thought that The Mummy Returns was pure mindless Hollywood entertainment, and if you try and take it as anything more than that, you'll hate it.
Waterworld sucked. Most Costner movies suck. he should stay away from writing and directing and just let his agent pick the scripts.
Episodes 1 and 2 are travesties of nature....except for the fact that Yoda gets to kick butt in Episode 2, which made that movie worthwhile. I think George just needs to do what he did for 5 and 6 and hand over the reigns of directorship to someone else. Let someone else write it too. In fact, Lucas should just take pride that he made the original trilogy and then sit back and let someone else do the work.
Conan.....that was a disturbing movie. As was Kull the Conqueror. *hides in dark corner and shudders*

Final Fantasy may have been a let down but it is not the worst movie by a long shot.
Lets take a recent-ish bad movie... Jeepers Creepers. Are you seriously telling me that FF was worse then Jeepers Creepers?

And let's not forget Resident Evil. Can you say 'Night of the Living Dead'? That was seriously one of the worst movies I've ever seen, which is saying a lot. What really pisses me off is that they expected a sequel.

Especially Good Will Hunting. It actually made me puke.
Almost all hollywood films are boring, predictable pap churned out by accountants for an audience of cattle. Hollywood "stars" are almost entirely fatuous freeloaders and should be sold off to a glue factory.
There, glad I've got that off my chest.

Hmm, I'll be sure to invite you on my next fun evening out at the flicks!:) I do agree with the spirit of your post; however, I think, as do many people, that movies can be either an art form OR just some good entertainment. Occasionally you come across a movie that is both. It's because one comes across those that are NEITHER (which is all too frequently) that I can agree with your sentiments.
WiseWizard
10-09-2002, 11:00 AM
You dare insult Robin Williams?!?!? Are you sure it wasn't Matt Damon that made you puke?
You better not make that statement until you've seen 'One Hour Photo'! And 'Insomnia'! And 'Dead Poet's Society'!
But back to bad movies.......
What did everyone think of 'Minority Report'? Despite what everyone says, I really didn't like that movie. I can't see why anyone did. I admit it had some good points, but overall it was a horrible movie.
Dunadan
10-09-2002, 11:27 AM
Sorry; should've kept that one for the venting thread.
Yes, I dare. Matt Damon also made me puke, but so did RW's performance in Dead Poets. It's that simpering half-smirk he pulls to signify sentiment, usually directed towards his latest under-privileged yet touched-with-genius patient/pupil/underling. Hack! Barf!
(Not seen One Hour Photo or Insomnia, so maybe evil roles better suit his talents)
The thing is, I've lost count of the number of times I've been to the flicks looking forward to some much-hyped entertainment and come out feeling like I've been robbed.
Seen Ratcatcher? Now there's a movie.

Never heard of Ratcatcher, don't want to.
What do they call people like you.......someone who sees the glass half empty......oh yeah, CYNIC!!!
Although I will admit that there have been movies that have been hyped up movies which weren't very good. Prime example, Star Wars Episode 1. Two was even worse (Lucas trying romance.....*shudder*), but it wasn't hyped as much.

I hated Dead Poets' Society so much! But apart from that, and the abysmal recent(ish) adaptation of Mansfield Park, which made me want to throw things :) the worst film I've ever seen was called something like An Awfully Big Adventure - it was so bad I tried to forget the title! It had Alan Rickman and Hugh Grant in it and it was still terrible, which is quite an achievement.

Sooo many bad films.........but I'll try to stick to the fantasy/sci-fi genre.
Krull - so dodgy, so cliched, so terribly acted
Zardoz - Well, it had Sean Connery in it (a plus), it almost had a storyline, but it had the worst 70's inspired psychodelic camerawork and music........terrible, almost painfull to watch.
Attack of the 50ft Woman - the nineties re make staring Dahryl Hannah, 'nuff said.
Attack of the Killer Tomatoes - although tomatoes are evil (a fruit that masquerades as a vegetable) I've never personally felt particularly threatened by them, although I was once intimitated by a Brussell Sprout, but that's a different story.
He-Man the Movie - does not need a comment surely:rolleyes:
Apollo 13 - a film with literally no atmosphere.
Conan the Barbarian - ok, Arnie may not have been attending acting classes at the time but they could have at least given him SOMETHING to say.
Queen of Darkness - and the inspiration for this film was from? Not from the book that's for sure.
Anything sci-fi related staring Dolph Lungdren or Jean Claude Van Damme, Unversal Soldier, Cyborg etc etc.................please:mad:
probs more to follow;)

-leonard, part 6. whoever made this should be brought to trial at the hague.
-the omega code. i used to like michael york, then i saw this.
-any film featuring patrick swayze. except donnie darko. that is one of my favorites.
-the lawnmower man films.

Agreed on Minority report. i can see why some people would like it (reviewers), but it simply seemed to me like a waste of time.
Sum of All Fears also was pointless. It tries to make some kind of moral point about nuclear weapons and isn't able to pull it off. besides, Ben Affleck just can't act no matter how hard he tries.
And just in case i haven't mentioned this before, the modern-day version of Romeo and Juliet (with that piece of crap actor Leo Dicaprio) was horrible. Some of the visions put forward were good, but the acting was pretty much horrible all around.

It's called Prospero's Books, and pretty much it's a really messed up version of the Shakespeare play The Tempest. I think the writer must have been on acid when he wrote the screenplay. From what I saw, it was a bunch of "aritstic" images and a lot of very ugly nude people enacting the characters. I'm probably scarred for life just by seeing even the first ten minutes of it.

the broken hearts club. it's a film about gay men obviously written and acted by very straight men trying to be 'sensitive' and 'open-minded.' it has every cliche in the book, but it's serious. we turned it off when the characters started fawning over 'beaches.' on top of that, it has the most horrible acting and writing i've seen in a long time (and i'm even thinking about both of the new star wars films).

Billy Madison with *winces* Adam Sandler Dang I hate that guy. His humor isn't even FUNNY! I walked away from watching said movie brainwashed and I haven't gone near any of his movies since.
Crybaby with Johnny Depp. *whimpers* Dont like the plot. It was either trying to be serious and funny, or took it's self to seriously, or was putting amusing bits in with a stupid plot.
Spiderman...yes I say Spiderman. Almost all of the characters were shallow. The chick (Mary Jane?) made all females look bad, and Harry was about as good at acting as...oh a block of wood. It was alright though with the special effects.
The Ralph Bakshi LOTR~ Dont get me started. The Beatles, the big 70's hair on the wizards, the horned helmets...Ewww :P
But the topper...never watch it if you value your mental health you WILL NOT WATCH this movie...Dragonheart: A New Beginning. It's the sequal to Dragonheart which was ok...even though the protagonists were a dishonest knight and a dragon, but this one doesn't even bear being mentioned. For some reason they put eastern martial arts in with the western form of fighting and it just didn't work, not only that but you dont even care for the characters. I HATE that kind of movie.
