WOW... that's weird. Right before I got on the computer I was playing this game. I'm having some trouble. I'm not very good with games and I'm kind of stuck... but it's a pretty awesome game!

I've never played a Legend of Zelda game, (I know, I know, how can I call myself a gamer ;) ) but I've heard that they are awesome. I might have to find an old 8-Bit cartridge and dust off my NES and try it.

The legend of Zelda is my favorite game! I've finished it a few times if anyone needs any help. I am now halfway through the second one, Majoras Mask, but I'm havn't played it in monthes. I think I've played every Legend of Zelda game except that one on Gameboy.

I've actually beaten the Original one, Links Awakening for GB, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask.

I love Zelda!!!!!! I almost started a thread about it myself. All I have played is A Link to the Past for SNES (still my favourite system) and the ocarina of time for game boy. but for SNES i love it so much. I have had it since I was like 7 and I know the light world compltely by heart, seriously. I've only beat it a few times but that's only because I usually give up at chrystal #4. i just don't like that part. oh well.

Every one of the Zelda games is great. I've played the original a little, but I conquered Link's Awakening for Gameboy. I also borrowed the SNES version for about a week and almost finished it, but got stuck in the parallel world or whatever it was.

Has anyone heard the Legend of Zelda song by System of a Down? I love it!

Link, he come to town, come to save the Princess Zelda. Ganon took her away, now the children don't play, but they will when Link save the day. Hallelujah!:D
It's incredibly catchy. I think I said something about it in the System of a Down thread that's somewhere around here.
Link, I think your name should go down into history!:p

i finally downloaded the SOAD song! it's so cool! oh my gosh! that just makes my whole day. i'll go to the happy thread.
"Link... fill up your hearts... so you can shoot... you're sword power..."
Ah, the lyrics refer to the classic "Link to the Past" from the SNES. Though when I had that song, it listed the artist as "The Rabbit Joint" or something crazy like that.
I also enjoyed "Ocarina of Time" on N64 and Super Smash Brothers for both N64 and GCN, where you play as Old Link, Young Link, or even Zelda and Sheik (actually, that's only on the GCN one... only Old Link on N64)...
I hear they're making a multiplayer version of the Zelda series for Gameboy Advanced (sorry, no clever anacronym  ), where you can either play mini games against each other or team up to complete dungeons... sounds spiffy. It's sooo difficult for me to go back to two-dimensions, though... when it's not multiplayer like "Rampage" or "Pro Wrestling", anyway.

Has anyone else ever noticed that the zelda games seem to lack continuity?
As brilliant as they are, it gets sort to of old doing the same plot over and over.
Treebeard's apprentice

Isn't that contradictory? Doing the same plot over and over seems pretty consistent to me.:)
Wayfarer
11-19-2002, 01:19 AM
But that's repetition, not continuity.
Majora's mask follows Ocarina of Time. That's continuity. OOC and OOA are the same story-that's continuity. But a the original Zelda, A Link to The Past, and Ocarina of Time all contradict.
And there's things like the way Jabu Jabu's belly is in both OOT and OOA. It makes no sense.
Yeah! And next episode, he's gonna be a CARTOON! I can't wait!
Heh... the stories never really bothered me... as long as I have a bow, I'm happy.

Actually that would be the only one I ever really play. i have Oracle of Time for Game Boy too. I really like SNES actually. I usually enjoy it more than newer systems. (note:usually) It's funny how that lyric is so...i don't know. it's odd. OH by the way on mine teh artist is listed as "3" (well actually I changed it, but...) which isn't as cool as "The Rabbit Joint" but...yeah...

I disagree. Majora's Mask was very different from The Ocarina of Time. I have played the Ocarina of Time about 6 times, so its getting a bit easy....but I'd have to say it's my favorite game.

Mmmmm, The Legend of Zelda, my favorite games. I've played(but not beaten, too lazy to do everything. But I got most of the way through)the NES, SNES, GB, and N64 games. I beat OoT and MM many times, but the others......;)

The stories contradict because supposedly there has been more than one Link. Like how the little boy in WW is not really the Link we know from OoT and MM. It's just sorta like there's a mythical hero all throughout history to protect the Hyrulian royal line, thus the spirit if Link is reincarnated in different people as needed.

I suppose my favorite Zelda Game is ocarina of time...but I really like them all. I've played them all except the game boy and game boy advanced ones. I'm in the process now of getting the Zelda 4 pack promotional game for Gamecube. it has the original Zelda, and the 2nd one for NES plus the 2 for 64. I can't wait!!!!!! one time i even dressed up like Link for Halloween!

I never got into Zelda until about a year ago, and I can't believe I missed out on such a great series all these years.
I've completed A Link to the Past and The Wind Waker, two of my favourite games of all time on any system, and am some ways through Ocarina by way of the Collector's Edition disc for the Cube. I've also played a bit of the Oracle titles for Game Boy Color thanks to several hours abord Singapore Air, but didn't get into them as much - I don't consider them as integral a part of the series proper.
As far as internal consistency goes, it's true that there isn't really any. My approach to the series is that the individual entries are really just permutations of an ancient legend, hence the title of the series, The Legend of Zelda. Outside of that, the reality is that plot consistency was never something taken into much consideration in game design until the late '90s. Trying to establish total consistency is futile and arguably as problematic as doing the same with, say, Star Trek; I think the varied approaches to the trinity of Power, Courage and Wisdom (and the Hero, Princess and Villain) lend themselves to a certain timelessness that isn't overly repetitive.
There already is a multiplayer Zelda for GBA, Four Swords, which is similar to LttP in look and feel but relies on cooperative dungeon-crawling. I'm quite looking forward to Four Swords Adventures, the upcoming GameCube version of this.

What does everyone think of the new Zelda game "Twilight Princess"? I can't wait to play it this winter!!!!!!

I'm honestly more excited for Twilight Princess than for anything coming out on Xbox 360, which is going to be released around the same time. It's on par with the first wave of next-generation titles, which I find are dropping on us way too prematurely.
I adore the Wind Waker look, and Princess doesn't seem to have any of that lush, adorable greenery, but it's got a very unique tone to call its own - kind of like what everybody remembers Ocarina of Time to be, before they realize that N64 graphics look kind of clunky nowadays.

I can't believe I never saw this thread! Link rocks! Yeah, I don't know Arien. They do keep delaying it. I figure it will be out around Christmas. I heard there was a lot of things the creator wanted to change and then they wanted to wait for the christmas season to release it.
I loved, loved, loved The Wind Waker. I play it all the time. I actually bought a GC just for this game. I even got my grandma hooked on it. :D She's all exited about Twilight Princess too. My favorite has to be the original though. I remember playing that game for weeks as a kid. My Mom had to take away my Nintendo I played it so much. The second one was terrible though. The one where it was more of a platform game. Blah. Ocarina of Time was a great one! The best N64 game next to Goldeneye, IMO.

I highly recommend getting it! Ocarina of Time was/is my favorite...actually iot's sort of tied with Wind Waker right now.

I thin kit's easier to treasure hunt in the other zelda games than in Wind WAker. but it is rather funny to see him pull that boot up!
in all my yers of gamming on the old systems, new systems, and computer, i have never played a game as awesome as ocorina of time, in my opinion it is the greatest video game of all time!!!!!

I jsut started Ocarina again too! (I've beaten it I don't know how many times but I still love it!)
Majora's Mask does just kinda grow on you. I want to start playing it again but I haev the collector's edition for Game Cube and it tend to freeze up on you. also I HATE the fact that ever time you want to save you have to start at the beginning of the 3 days! that really is crappy especially when the game freezes up and you can't save that often! I dont' think it's up to my Ocarina and WindWaker status though but that's just b/c when Ocarina came out no one had ever seen anything quite like it before. and Windwaker had such a good storyline and great music! I jsut finished buring a great Zelda CD with alot of that music on it.

I agree with Sam. I'm playing Majora's Mask now for the GC and like Arien said, it freezes a lot. That and the three day thing just sucks. It's just not Link's style, you know? Zelda was one of the first 'free range' games that really worked. I'd get bored and just run around doing different things. That's why Wind Waker is my favorite. (Yeah, I know I said the original was my fav but I changed my mind. :D) You get tired of doing the story line, you cruise around on your boat and go treasure hunting. Fun stuff. The same with OOT. Get bored, cruise around on your horse catching ghost. With MM you have to do the same crap over just to do one thing.
Anywho, I'm still pumped about Twilight Princess.

Actually, I've found that the wii controls feel 'tacked on'. ::shrug:: The game feels like it was written for the game cube rather than the wii. In any case, slowly starting to grow on me. Wind waker was an easier sell for me, I think. Not entirely sure why, yet.

Aye in the beginning a lot of people were complaining about the graphics and how it looked sub-par for a Wii game. When it came out for both GC and the Wii. Porting it to the Wii was kinda a last minute idea since the game was mostly developed for the GC. I susepct the only reason they did it was to try it out with the Wiimote.
I honestly didn't know how much it had caught on in my mind until I played OoT again for two minutes and wanted to swing around my 64 controller. Before that I would have said it was just "ok". But now I say it's brilliant.

I finished it 2 days I ago I think. I'm not sure how I feel about this game overall...it ahd it's good points but several other Zelda games surpassed it in other areas (like music). It seems like a mix between Ocarina and Majora to me. But it was good overall. I'll have to play it again and find out all the secrets (as I got help 3-4 times from the internet :o shame on me!)
