According to Harry Knowles from AICN(not the best source, I know), the voice of Treebeard will be played by none other than John Rhys-Davies who also plays Gimli son of Gloin. Just read about it at TORN.

I highly reccomend everyone go to AICN and read Harry's 11 part piece on his visit to the LOTR set on their last days of shooting. I'm not a big Harry fan, but if that doesn't get you HYPER about LOTR nothing will.

Harry's enthusiasm is infectious, isn't it?

How about a link?

I think that with some enhancement, John Rhys-Davies can pull it off! (Like Darth Vader voiced by James Earl Jones!) You need someone with a bass voice.

I heard Tolkien on a recording, but I thought he rushed it. (Blasphemy!)

A link? Try www.theonering.net or www.aintitcoolnews.com I think the story should still be around the front page.

For some reason I never heard Treebeard having a deep voice... he sounded like Winnie-the-Pooh to me!

I don't know why.

I could never picture a 14foot tall walking talking tree sounding like Winnie-the-Pooh.

Winnie-the-Pooh?? That presents a VERY strange mental picture! THough...I can almost see what you mean...in a twisted way, they have a bit of the same character style.

lol, well, this isn't about Treebeards vioce exactly. I'm from Ost in Edhil and a bunch of us were wondering if there's been any new news on Treebeard, pics n stuff. If you know anything, you can post it here or go to pub48.ezboard.com/bostinedhil (http://pub48.ezboard.com/bostinedhil) and post it under the Waiting for the Rings heading. Thanks and much luv!!

Yeah, Sean Connery would sound good as Treebeard.

I hope they alter the voice, to give him that deep wood-wind instrument sound.

Like oboes you mean? Or those giant Swiss horn trumpet things they blow in the mountains?

Oboes. More like a bassoon.

I believe somewhere in the Treebeard chapter it says he or the Ents had voices like deep wood-wind instruments.

As long as they don't make Quickbeam sound like a saxophone...

It gets even worse if the Ents marching together sound like BAGPIPES....

I imagine Treebeard's "hoom-hom" summons to the Entmoot sounded much like a foghorn.

I hear they're going to leave out most of the songs. But I hope they leave the Entish marching song in. It's pretty catchy.

"We come we come with roll of drum
Ta runda runda runda rom
To Isengard with doom we come
with doom we come, with doom we come"

I can imagine little kids pretending to be Ents marching to Isengard.
