Who is better, the Noghri or Chewbacca?

I would have to say Chewie. Remember, he almost strangled that one, when they where orbiting over Endor? I can't remember which book though....one of the Zahn ones.

Definately chewie. My moneys on chewie.

Helix

Of course Chewie. He's the best.

There has to be something in favor of the Noghri, though. Not that I'm holding my breath to find a Noghri supporter, but I think that you need to acknowledge that in a fair fight, the Noghri would probably win.

Chewie almost strangles Khabarakh, but that's because Khabarakh is trying to submit so he can reach the shock trap.
If Khabarakh hadn't been trying to subdue Chewie without injuring him Chewie would have been a goner.

Perhaps. I still vote for Chewie.

Chewie is cooler. He leaves a lasting impressing, danged if I can barely remember the noghri from the books.

Beleg Strongbow

Well sure, but Chewie dies.

Helix

But he shouldn't!
NJO should be ignored.

Beleg Strongbow

I suppose you're right.
NJO is pretty bad.

I loved the noghri. They're more agile than a wookie and trained to be assassins. So my money is on them. Although an angry wookie is not something I want run into at night either....

HOBBIT

Well, I'd rather kiss a wookie.

I'd rather not. Kissing Tater's feet was bad enough....

To tell you the truth, I can't decide. The Nogri are megaly mundo cool, but so is Chewbacca. They always beat Chewbacca when they fight though. The thing thats messing them up is the fact that the Nogri are assaisins and act as such, they stay in the shadows and don't really do anything after they're first introduced.

I think I'll start a thread where people can vote for which is better....
It's obvious Chewie will win but I want to see how many people vote Noghri.

Good idea, but a couple of fights will probably break out. Don't forget to give an Equal choice. Noghri are definatly fun. Why don't you add Lowie as well?

Wayfarer

Regardless of who would win in a fight, I just like the noghri better.

Admiral Thrawn was paramount, though.

TwirlingString

I never did get the point of Thrawn, he was just a cheerful interlude, that and the... What was the name? They appeared in the Young Jedi Knight Series and converted Lusa and Lowie's best friend from the past who was supposed to be dead.

Beleg Strongbow

The Diversity Alliance.

THOU SHALT NOT COMPARE GRAND ADMIRAL THRAWN UNFAVORABLY TO THE WORKS OF KEVIN J ANDERSON!

(Star Wars Bible, Comparisons 1:1)

Really though, Thrawn was way more than an interlude. I agree that the Diversity Alliance was pretty bad, though.

There was a Thrawn book not written by Timothy Zhan? What happened in Diversity Alliance? Is it in NJO? Anywho, Chewie and the Wookies are insanely better than the Noghri. The Noghri sneak around and slash people, while the Wookies actually fight.

(Based on the Zahn books, as I have not/will not read the other ones...)....

GRAND ADMIRAL THRAWN KICKS PROVERBIAL BUTT!!!

... oh, and so does chewie.

Thrawn rules!

TwirlingString

Thrawn LOST. Bad guys cannot rule unless they WIN (most notiable example: Artemis Fowl)

Wayfarer

What I want is to see the New Republic dig up a spare thrawn clone, and put him to work for the good guys.

The thing about thrawn was that he was almost not a villain. Borderline characters are always cool. And he lost only because it was a convinient plot device.

TwirlingString

Getting Thawn to listen and work for th bad guys would be quite a feet. How come when you clone somebody you can give them the memories too?

BeardofPants
04-20-2002, 03:36 PM
Yes, but Thrawn wasn't completely evil. He was (as Wayfarer said... I'm agreeing with him!?), a borderline personality. He was civilised, had good taste in the arts, etc. In other words, wasn't a generic baddie. Besides, it wouldn't be Thrawn you'd be trying to convert, but rather, his clone. I'd imagine it would be easier to manage this, than to actually get Grand Admiral Thrawn to do an about face. Besides, in a time when they can clone, I'm sure they've also got mind altering techniques....

TwirlingString
04-20-2002, 03:40 PM
Point, and you're right about him not being evil. He was just loyal. Every notice how the Jedi were the only evil ones and every one else just greedy?

Beleg Strongbow

Just clearing this up (Helix): No one besides Zahn has written a Thrawn book.

I agree that it would be awesome to see a book with Thrawn working for the Republic.

Helix

Thrawn was loyal, and he wanted order (and other good stuff) for the galaxy. Plus, he was an alien (there goes the New Order). Defenitaly better than borderline, whichever side he was on.

Beleg Strongbow

I'm agreeing with Helix here.
The Empire under Thrawn was different from the Empire under Palpatine. It was less discriminatory and just, well, better.

Beleg Strongbow
04-22-2002, 11:51 AM
Plus, it had tactical genius. The Emperor was all for massive concentration of resources.

... No, but he turned up in a Lucasarts game somewhere.... Tie Fighter?

Beleg Strongbow

that's right!
Thrawn (see icon) developed the cloaking technology, then killed the guy who defected and stole it.

You're right. When they were fighting Thrawn it was really on the princapal of the thing. He didn't even have much against the Jedi. I DEFINTALY prefer him to the Vongs (used insulting term on purpose)

Beleg Strongbow
05-06-2002, 11:50 AM
Why is Vong insulting? Does it have something to do with the abcense of Yuzzhan, as in Yun-Yuzzhan? I didn't read most of the books so I'm just wondering.

TwirlingString
05-06-2002, 08:18 PM
Um.. I think it was saying that they were just Vong ment that they were classless, or something like that.
