Problem With Lurtz

or whatever the orc's character name is. Some people will most likely make him their favourite character, so when they read the books they may not like them, soley on the fact there is no Lurtz. Thats the only change I really I have problem, other than that I can understand the changes (except the cutting of Bomadill :( ).

Trust me ben, if you knew about Lurtz you'd lose that optimism of yours ;) It's a pointless waste of space, from everything we've heard about him. Instead of embelishing an excisting character they create a pointless new one and even change the canon on orcs to do it

I haven't been paying attention either, but I can imagine from what i've heard(partly in this thread) that he will be as hated by fans as Jar Jar Binks is...

Lurtz seems to be the first Uruk-hai bred by Saruman. He can stand sunlight anyway. He seems to be the orc responsible for death of Boromr. Looks like he will be later slain by Aragorn.

I don't know why anyone would make Lurtz their favorite character? If someone wants a nasty character as an idol he will chose a Nazgûl or the Balrog.

Lurtz' name will never be spoken in the FOTR. The character has been given a name because it makes a toy easier to sell when it has a name. Lurtz sounds way cooler than Uruk-hai #1. No one will hate him because no one has any reason to.

May I impress on you the fact that:LURTZ IS JUST A CHARACTER!!!! we need to find REAL reasons to freak.If Lurtz killed Merry AND Pippin,then hunted Frodo down,Killed him for the Ring, fought Sam,got his butt kicked so hard he forgot why he had the Ring,had to have Sam take him by his hand and LEAD him to the Cracks of Doom and then be pushed in.THAT is when I would truely and really freak but thankfully it's not gonna happen so hold on and wait for the movie to come out,then make your opinion about LOTR.

People act like carrots and moths are the end of the world and naming orcs is the r*ping of Tolkien. If AATF doesn't work on screen, we can gripe about that.
