I just saw this movie and have realized why it is called "the most controversial film of the year". It deals with many controverisal topics such as inter-racial relationships, murder, drugs, etc. Considering it's based on a Shakespearian tragedy ("Othello" for those who didn't know), I can understand the ending. And it's a very good tear-jerker. Anyone else seen it and enjoyed it?

I haven't seen it yet, but I certainly mean to! I read about it when it came out in theatres, and it looked really interesting.

I saw it but didn't like it. I didn't like Baz's Romeo+Juliet either. But I really enjoyed William Branaugh(?)'s Hamlet, Mel Gibson's Hamlet and Ten things I hate about you.
In "O" what was the deal with people commiting suicide by shooting themselves in the stomach? Was it supposed to be like them running themselves through with a sword?

Yes, actually. Back in the 1500's you just didn't stab yourself in the head.
