We had this assignment in English class a while ago and it was really hard so I wanted to see if any of you could get it.... What were the 5 subterranean descents in The Lord of the Rings? Two are Shelob and Moria....

Shelob, Moria, the Barrowdowns, Mount Doom, and the Paths of the Dead. Glittering caves may replace the Barrowdowns.

I'd say Barrow-downs over Glittering Caves, because we actually witness that action. We only hear about the Glittering Caves second hand.

I think we have our five... Tought I'm not eally sure for mount Doom... You know, Gollum's descent's pretty straight and Fast...

Sure Mount Doom, Frodo had to go into the Sammath Naur, which was like a cave, before Gollum ever bit off his finger.

Actually, Bag End was in a hill- would that count as subterranean?
And there were caves at The Battle of Helm's Deep... but I do not know if they count as subterranean either.

Subterranean means underground. Being under a hill is being underground. But I wouldn't really call it a descent.
The Mines of Moria, Shelobs Lair, Sammath Naur in Mount Doom, the Paths of the Dead and the Barrow-Downs sound good to me. The Glittering Caves/Helm's Deep could count too. But the action there was almost all above ground.

So, Elyse, you want to tell us if we are right or not.

My team got Mt. Doom, Shelob's Lair, Barrow Wights, Moria, and I think the Paths of the Dead was the last. Good job! You guys really know your Lord of the Rings!
