10-25-2000, 06:26 PM
You missed a few! :D

Xivigg
10-25-2000, 07:58 PM
Wich one ???

I did list all the region on my maps
of course when you take a look at the map you understand not everything can be put on it

Michael Martinez
10-25-2000, 08:41 PM
I was actually just teasing, although I see a few non-canonical names in your list. You must not be using a Tolkien map.

Morkhon
10-25-2000, 11:37 PM
Hey! Michael. I haven't seen you around the board for awhile, where you been?

Michael Martinez
10-25-2000, 11:48 PM
I have been swamped with things to do and today I decided I'd better check in on a few forums.

Xivigg
10-25-2000, 11:48 PM
The map of the Beleriand i found it in an old copy of the Silmarilion
and the map of the middle earth i buy it from a book store

some name might not be non-canonical but i do think my map are tolkien map

Michael Martinez
10-25-2000, 11:53 PM
You're not a native English-language speaker, are you? I suspect that what I'm seeing as "non-canonical" names may be due to mis-spellings (Dargolad instead of Dagorlad) due to accidental typos OR the results of translation (such as "Fjord of Drengist" instead of "Firth of Drengist" -- virtually the same thing).

Xivigg
10-26-2000, 12:09 AM
You're right

actually i had to translate my map (who must have been already translated before)

Sorry i do my best

Michael Martinez
10-26-2000, 12:30 AM
You don't need to apologize to me for handling English better than I handle other languages. I'm just sorry I didn't realize there was a language factor involved sooner.

Xivigg
10-26-2000, 04:25 PM
If i had more time i would have written wich name refer to a river :)

Ered means mountain i think

Michael Martinez
10-26-2000, 10:01 PM
orod = mountain, ered = mountains
amon = hill, emyn = hills
ephel = fence but is applied figuratively to mountains (Ephel Duath, fence of shadows) and to stockades (Ephel Brandir)

For what it's worth.

AngelLord
10-28-2000, 09:16 PM
Now how many times have you read this book? I've read it like 3 times.

Michael Martinez
10-29-2000, 08:05 AM
If you're asking me that question, I stopped counting at around 100 and I stopped estimating at around 200 times.

Hardly a day has gone by in the last 5 years when I haven't picked up at least one Tolkien book and looked through it, usually to help answer someone's question(s).

Xivigg
10-29-2000, 11:13 PM
Then your title is more than justifie

what i say is usualy what i can remember
I'm rarely totaly wrong but rarely 100% accurate :(

Snowdog

I have to say I didn't see Numenor in these lists :)

markedel
04-30-2003, 05:07 PM
Numenor is not part of middle earth.

Snowdog
05-01-2003, 10:15 AM
Lets see.... Numenor was an island in the Western Sea. They could not sail to Valinor but could and did sail to the coast. Is not Middle Earth the circles of Arda where mortals dwell? Or is it just a certain land mass that is called Middle Earth? I always considered that which is outside the undying lands Middle Earth.

markedel
05-01-2003, 02:06 PM
Hmm well in the Silmarillion certainly places in Arda were considered seperate from middle earth (also read in UT) that would mply numenor was considered as seperate from middle earth as aman.
