If you were to travel around Middle-earth, who would you bring with you?

I would probably bring Aragorn for sure. Traveling in a King's company would be pretty nice. Or perhaps I would go around with the very unlikely pair, Legolas and Gimli.

Ehh...hard one. Let's say this takes place during the seventeen years which Frodo knew nothing "special" of the Ring, that way the people I choose would be free to travel around.

I'd bring my brother Eric, my friend Jena, Strider the Ranger, & Gandalf. Why? Honestly, I don't know. Strider knows his way around and is great on survival techniques, Gandalf can zap anyone who tries harming or robbing us, and I've gotta bring my two best friends with me.

I'd bring my dog, Jasper. Mainly because he's rip the Sh** out of anyone or anything.

Umm...I WOULDN'T bring ANY of my 5 little brothers, and my dog would probably either be scared away by the first Ringwraith, or run away, making ME go after him.

I'd bring my best friend, Mary...she's a LOTR fanatic in training, and my other best friend Tiffany...she's NOT a LOTR fanatic in training, but she liked the movie. I'd also bring Gandalf, Strider, and possibly my parents. (I couldn't leave them behind very easily, and it's always handy to have a wizard and a Ranger with you.)

I would bring my friend Nicole, Merry, and Pippin. Then we'd all go blundering around Middle Earth getting into all sorts of trouble and constantly needing to be saved by responsible people like Aragorn and Legolas. Then we'd show our gratitude by playing tricks on them and giving them huge wedgies. Ahhh, life as it should be . . . :D

Hmm...I would force Sauron to get some fresh air outside his dumpy tower and bad smelling country...:p
Dark Lord is always a good travelling companion with his Stupid Henchmen :D (if you didn't get it, read Terry Pratchett's Last Hero). And I'm quite sure, that no one would attack me on that trip...
if I couldn't get him to come along, I'd propably take Gandalf, the Good Second :D .

Since it is based in the LOTR forum I'll limit there.

Strider, He is ranger supreme
Gandalf; Istari can't go to wrong there
Legolas: and Elf and Archer
Cirdan; if we need to voyage by water
and Gimli if we need to go under ground

You're both pretty smart--at least nobody would mess with you. (I read someplace that even Melkor was a little edgy around Ungoiliant).
If my choices are limited to the books, then I'd take Gandalf. If not, then I'd take my friend Jim. He's the best barbecuer I know (I bet he could even cook a mean CONEY); and if there is a place nearby where they have good food and a football game on television, he'll find it. :)

Gandalf, Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, and then some of my friends.

Tom and Aragorn, and 3 Oliphaunts: One tour guide/entertainer and one bodyguard/quartermaster, and 3 vehicles, respectively will be good enough for the weekend.

I don't want Gandalf for this tour. He has too many commitments and errands. Hmmm...maybe I'll ask him to bring me the morning paper on the Shadowfax express.

My bunch of best friends and a couple of eagles so we can travel in comfort. Gandalf would be a great help too.

I'd bring Frodo. Why? 'Cuz I have a crush on him . . .
