View Full Version : Which LOTR character would you be?
Rána Eressëa

Okay, I'm not trying to promote a site, but this one has a really cool test you can take to see which LOTR character you are most like. It's at www.hobbitlore.com if you've never taken it. I turned out to be Frodo Baggins, son of Drogo :D
Lucky 'lil me :p
Take the test and tell me which character you're most like!
Kamyel

I took the test and it said I'm more like Frodo Baggins.
Churl
01-09-2002, 02:24 AM
According to that test, I'm most like Sam's dad, the Gaffer!
As if I needed something else to make me feel old… :)

I took it twice. At first I got Gimli, but that didn't seem like me. So then I got Beregond...okaay...I've never exactly placed myself in his shoes but...

Hum I got Boromir and Beregond.
I like this better than the one I posted before, more choices.
Ñólendil
01-10-2002, 01:44 AM
I too got Beregond. They had me pegged pretty well, for the most part. The poll is based on the books, not the movies, so I moved it to this forum.
Aragorn
01-10-2002, 08:13 AM
You are most like
Meriadoc (Merry) Brandybuck
See Merry's leadership role in the Battle of Bywater (1419).
You are probably not shy in stepping forward and taking charge. Social interaction energizes you. The more people the merrier. You have a tendency to introspection. In your desire for clarity in life, you may have the tendency of being remote or even "heartless". You try to schedule your life as much as possible. You tend to finish your work before resting.
As the foil to Aragorn, Sauron clearly embodies the evil side of this personality.
Traits: Pragmatic, autonomous, ingenious, resolute. On the dark side you could desire power and domination.
Marille
01-10-2002, 01:20 PM
Cool! I was ......
Legolas, Son of Thranduil
[You are most like Legolas knows his way around in the world, with a keen understanding of nature.
He is often oblivious to the pain and fatigue of his activities. Though reserved, you excel in aesthetic endeavors. If a mountain is there, you will climb it. Time alone is important and solitary activities refresh you. You have good observational skills. While providing compassion and being considerate, you may have the tendency of being soft-hearted or even "too emotional" You like keeping your options open. Closure is probably not one of your strong suits.
Like Boromir, you are not content to sit on the sidelines while the action takes place around you.
Traits: Open minded, easy going, persuassive, optimistic about the future. On the dark side you could be exploitative and an opportunist
That was cool! And hello to everyone I'm new to the board, but not to Tolkien!

I got Beregond, Gimli and then Beregond again! Hmm, maybe I have multiple personalities...

I got Frodo. Hmmm
Eruviel Greenleaf
01-10-2002, 06:32 PM
Heh. I got Gimli, took it again and got Galadriel. Hmm, not what I expected, 'cause on other personality tests I've gotton Legolas or Aragorn, pretty consistently. Personality tests are pretty wierd!
Captain Stern
01-10-2002, 10:34 PM
You are most like
The Dwarves
As the halls of Moria show, Dwarves like building and inventing.
The world exists to be explained and analyzed. You prefer to work quietly without interruption. Time alone is important and solitary activities refresh you. You have a tendency to introspection. In your desire for clarity in life, you may have the tendency of being remote or even "heartless". You like keeping your options open. Closure is probably not one of your strong suits.
As the foil to Aragorn, Sauron clearly embodies the evil side of this personality.
Traits: Pragmatic, autonomous, ingenious, resolute. On the dark side you could desire power and domination.
I took the test again, and I still got The Dwarves!
The Dwarves! The Dwarves! I don't think I'm like a dwarf
Wayfarer
01-10-2002, 10:39 PM
I got Galadriel and Frodo...
Interestingly enough, both times I got 'the orcs represent the evil side of this personality' and 'on the dark side, you could be sadistic'.
Hmmm... They got Burghash (my darker half) right... and I suppose Galadriel and Frodo are both similar in traits to Edrandir (My good half). Although neither is jubilant enough.

Vanimdil
01-11-2002, 11:43 PM
Here's my type on the test:
You are most like
Galadriel, the Lady of Lorien
Like many elves, Galadriel has a rich inner life and a level of mystery. Although elves say both yes and know when sought for counsel, their insight is valuable. She has exceptional empathic abilities.
You are likely to be quiet, and gentle, enjoying helping other people grow and realize their potential. Others may view you as mystical. Time alone is important and solitary activities refresh you. You have a tendency to introspection. While providing compassion and being considerate, you may have the tendency of being soft-hearted or even "too emotional" You try to schedule your life as much as possible. You tend to finish your work before resting.
The Orcs display the evil side of this personality with their lengthy torture methods.
Traits: Empathic, benevolent, looking to the future. On the dark side you could be sadistic.
Very interesting, although I'm not sure what orcs have to do with it. Anyway it's cool! I liked the range of choices and the detail of the descriptions too.
AngieBaggins
01-12-2002, 12:43 AM
Here's my info:
You are most like
Frodo Baggins, Son of Drogo
With many acquaitenances, Frodo is deeply attached to a few people, like Bilbo, Aragorn, Gandalf, and Sam. His high ethics come out in his treatment of Gollum and Saruman. Frodo has pity on Gollum and believes that change can occur.
You have a strong personal morality. You are committed to relationships and their growth. You tend to be an idealist, believing the best of the world around you. Time alone is important and solitary activities refresh you. You have a tendency to introspection. While providing compassion and being considerate, you may have the tendency of being soft-hearted or even "too emotional" You like keeping your options open. Closure is probably not one of your strong suits.
The Orcs display the evil side of this personality with their lengthy torture methods.
Traits: Empathic, benevolent, looking to the future. On the dark side you could be sadistic.
So my good side is frodo, but my bad side is orc....hmm....

Lyrian, Beregond is a friend of Pippin's in Minas Tirith. He's a very cool character, loyal to Faramir brother of Boromir. He probably won't make it into the second movie though. I don't want to say too much, knowing you haven't read about him yet.
Haha Wayfarer. *turns to walk away and feels FrodoFriend tugging on his sleeve* What? Oh, bother! No! There's no limit, go butt-crazy with your personalities! Sheesh! Now go run along and play with your Frodo dolls! *mutters* Kids

I tried the test last week but only got to reading this thread today.
Anyway, I got Aragorn, probably because:
1. I absolutely denied having hairy feet
2. I am good with animals.
3. I like the outdoors
4. Am not afraid to be alone (or something close to that idea...)
I got Denethor, Son of Ecthelion, Lord and Steward of Minas Tirith
That doesn't necessarily seem like a good thing?
afro-elf
01-17-2002, 06:35 AM
Denethor was not a bad man. His only real shortcoming was his arrogance. For he did possess the old power of Numenor in his vains.
But , he refused the council of Gandalf and went batty at the end.
Before that he was a quite a capable steward.

Oh Lord, I got Boromir. That doesn't bode well! If I really was a character in the books, I'd like to think I was like one of Frodo's hobbit friends. They are so quick to be loyal even in the face of grave danger. They put their fear behind them for the sake of the better good. How neat.

on the other hand, frodo's hobbit friends were not destined to rule a major city and be responsible for the welfare of its people and the safety of the neighboring cities and countryside.
boromir was, indeed a conflicted man, struggling with what would be the smaller needs of his particular political venue vs. the needs of a much greater whole.
and in the end, he understood and chose wisely. he was a good person, and honorable, and flawed - as we humans really are.

It's not that shocking of a test. Of course, you'll have multiple answers if you keep on taking it and end up answering even ONE question differently. One question makes a difference. Though, I did take it three times and got Frodo each time. I've just given up by now :) But it nailed me right on the dot:
You are most like
Frodo Baggins, Son of Drogo
With many acquaitenances, Frodo is deeply attached to a few people, like Bilbo, Aragorn, Gandalf, and Sam. His high ethics come out in his treatment of Gollum and Saruman. Frodo has pity on Gollum and believes that change can occur.

Kwijibo
03-13-2002, 04:41 PM
It looks to me like there are two tests. On one (the one I took) you just become the dwarves. Over and over again. And you got something like:
1 - Like me 4 - Not like me
1 2 3 4
o o o o - This and that
o o o o - This and that
o o o o - This and that
o o o o - This and that
Then it says - You are like the Dwarves! e.t.c
On the other one, it seems like you get questions that make more sense and you get a characters name. I didn't get into that one.
It looked to me like there was only one test.

There is only one test, and there's a certain way to take it.
You have four choices. For the one most like you, you pick "1". For the next one that is most like you, you pick "2". For the third one which is less like you, you pick "3". For the one not like you at all, you pick "4".

The test said Celeborn, but I think I identify most with Sam. You know, very loyal with friends and stuff.

Hmm, I believe the point of the test is to see who you are really most like, rather than who you wish you were most like :p :D

I disagree. The point of the test is to find out who you act most like, rather than who you are most like.

Actions are a part of who you are just as thoughts, which is why it is "who you are most like". It's not just actions - the characters are fueled by thought which triggers action, and apparently (since you never see their thoughts) you now know they think similar to you. Believe it or not :)

However, our inner selves are not reflected by that test (do you have a beard? do you wish you had pointy ears?), except the last question, and we can't really know about that one.

That's not inner self! :D That's physical appearance! The test asked questions pertaining to actions, thoughts, and feelings - not physical appearance.
Here's the first question: "Coming right down to it I tend to be..." (And here is how I answered...)
1 2 3 4
- 2 - - practical & opportunistic
1 - - - compassionate & altruistic
- - - 4 dutiful & diligent
- - 3 - efficient & pragmatic
The test in the very first post is the one I'm talking about. The one this thread was originally about. And that test does not ask what you wish you looked like.
Here it is again (because I believe you're talking about the wrong one): http://www.hobbitlore.com/main.jsp
Scroll down to the bottom and you'll see the link :)

Okay... you're right. No wonder I'm confused. The test I used first is incredibly lame. (It's the one that asked if I had a beard) Here's a link too it: http://www.zovakware.com/tests/lordoftherings.htm Rogue Elf, I now agree with you about the HobbitLore one. (I got Legolas. maybe I am most like him :D )

Lol, I took the test but I didn't read the directions so I though that 1 is most like you and 4 was least; so I kept ending up with Dwarves....
Anyways, I took it the right way and I was Frodo! :D
