Using ONLY LOTR and Hobbits and Men
Which type would you be. NOT what you would LIKE to be but which personality type would you most like fit into.
AND why? AND why not others.
Looking for detail. So don't just say Hobbit. But say Stoor or Harfoot.
For me I would probably be a Ranger of the North.
They are still close to the Elves, educacted in lore, and poetry travellers, and warriors. They are spartan and cultured. They have a certain freedom. Often grim but not fearful to laugh. Often loners yet a tight bound between them.
The Gondorians are a tad too pompous and Rigid.
The Rohirrim are cool but they are like cowboys and not lore bound as the above.
The men of the Vales of Anduin are WAY to rustic. They are like survivalist.
The Men of Dale and Esorgath(SP?) They seem like the Blue collar men of ME. Nothing against them but it just isn't me.
I'm just not a Hobbit. I like travelling beyond the borders too much.

Well, I could not really picture myself as a Hobbit. So a Man it is (for lack of Elf).
I can imagine myself as a Gondorian living somewhere close to the sea. Even in a fantasy I would prefer to stay at a coastline.

I'd be a hobbit...a Took to be exact. I don't generally like taking risks, but I can be brave when I put my mind to it. I love my own little "Shire" but also sometimes yearn for adventure. And everyone I know thinks I'm on the strange side.

I'd definitely be a hobbit, a Took or a Brandybuck. Their cheerfulness and nonchalance in the face of extreme danger always impressed me . . . and they're the least stuck up of the peoples of Middle Earth, and they know how to have a good time! :D

I think too I would be a ranger from the north. I want to be an elf, but, concerning my physical condition, I'm not one. But I love nature, animals, plants, poetry, travelling, adventures and helping other people. So I think I fit ito this category.

Ild be a Man of Minas Tirith, most likely in the House of Healing,
I enjoy being a scholar and healing people.

A rohirrim. As I read TT for the first time I had this weird bond with them, even though there were just characters in a story. I guess it's because I'm like them in so many ways. I'm strong willed (like Eowyn) I love to travel and explore, and I have a real connection to animals.

Northern, and that's what I meant. Probably I would be most like an elf of some kind, but seeing the restrictions, I think rangers are closest.

I don't know, it's a hard one. Probably a ranger of the North, I like to walk in the wild (or what there is left of it in the Uk). I would have to live near the mountains, definitely. On the other hand, Sam and Frodo get the climbing scene in the Emyn Muil, climbing is my passion, so maybe I could be a Baggins or a Gamgee just for that! Then again, I could be one of Faramirs men, and live in Ithilien, that sounds good too!

Wow, now this is a challenge! Mmmm, let's have a look.
I would probably be in Gondor, Minas Tirith, .(set at the time before the return of the king) Remembering how it used to be, quite unwilling to change all to sudden, but on the other hand not that satisfied with the current situation. Loving their beautiful country around them but sad because it is dimishing. They can be grim but also lighthearted if the situation allows it.
There are certain aspects of Elves that appeal to me, such as the feeling that they are often detached from the world around them. On the other hand their wisdom, patience, acceptance of situations and tranquility doesn't often apply to me.
Hobbits are definately out of league although I like them a lot. They take everything very easy and with a smile. I can't sing and I don't care that much for food.
Well now that's what I call psycho-analysing! Just don't hold it against me.

I'd probably be another Ranger...
I love travelling, bushwalking etc... and climbing NATURAL rocks...
And I'd be an elf-friend (If I cant be an elf :()
And the rangers are learned in lore and poetry (I like to think of myself as wise for my age)
And they aren't very social (I wouldnt call myself the life of the party :D)

A Took, if elves are out of the question. Not only am I short and ahve curly hair, but from what I've heard of them I'm quite a took. Perhaps Belladona? She never went on any adventures AFTER she married Bungo, but before?
And I too, am a bit odd, and would have probably caused Gandalf to say "Fool of a Took!"

I guess that wold suit me also. (This is what I am half of anyway- the other half being Elvish)
For these reasons:
-I am interested in poetry etc, anything to do with languages
-I enjoy travelling, and would also enjoy fighting
-I am also sort of a loner, but with the people I connect to, I am very close.
- I would like to protect others, even though I will receive no credit for it

Ranger of the North sounds cool, but totally masculine! I would not want to be one of "their women" (delightful as that might sound! ;) ) because I could not bear having my man away from me so much. So......I guess I might like to be from Rohan, a wife of a Rohirrim, taking care of business!
A hobbit is tempting though! Maybe a hobbit woman who became sterile after her second child! :D With a big garden, of course. :) I would be a Brandybuck for sure, as I would like to visit Bree from time to time.

I was thinking that I would be a Ranger woman. If there aren't any, I could be the first. Yet again, a leader. Like the female equivalent of Strider.

Lizra, isn't Rohirrim used to describe the race? I think that "Rohir" would be the singular. Though that's just a guess, from the -rim suffix. I could certainly be wrong. :)

I would be a man of Esgaroth Upon the Long Lake. A nice sort of suburban culture there likie I have, and right on the shining waters of the Running River. (and not far from the dwarves of the Lonely Mountain or the Elvenking's hall in Mirkwood)
That or a Brandybuck in Buckland, by the Brandywine River. But I'd be a tall hobbit.
Realistically, I wouldn't make the cut as a Ranger, I would be overly bored in the Shire, and I can't drink so I can't live in Bree. And a beorning, I'm too lanky and flexible and pale.

As much as I hate to admit it, I would most likely be a Noldor. I'm smart and hungry for knowledge- sometimes too much for my own good. I'm also pretty nasty at times, although like Maedhros and Maglor I usually regret it. Sometimes. I'm very skilled with language and art. I'm sometimes contemplative and sometimes hot-tempered. Once I say I'm going to do something, I try to do it even if I may not want to.

Something fantastical? It has been a long time since I thought like that! :) Hmmmmm, I'd really really like to be Goldberry...a fantastical wife. Not even human either! Very daring for me! :)

I would be an elf. I am as graceful and as beautiful as the spring flowers blooming from the ground. I dance with the trees and I run in the valley. The echoes call my name and sing to me. The moon shines down upon my face as if to greet me into the night. I am on with the springs in the forest. I am part of the pools of water in the rain. I capture the hearts of many and I am still know today.

It would be cool to be a ranger of the Dúnedain, but I can't see me as one. However, I can see myself as a Gondorian. Unlike the rangers who live in the wilderness, the people of Gondor live in cities, which suits me quite well.
The Gondorians are helpful and they never lie. I'm proud to say that this goes for me as well. Ok, ok I'm not perfect but most of the time I'm helpful and I'm not in the habit of lying, not everyday :D

I think I´d be most like a human. I wouldn´t be a hobbit, because I don´t have careless enough attitude to life, and I´m not an elf, because lol, I´m just lacking the wisdom that most elves seem to have, and I´m not "greedy" enough to be a dwarf.. so that leaves the race of men. The strong sense of responsibility and the seriousness fit to me.

I would might be one from this culture who likes to travel( my intitial Ranger leaning) and learn. Lake town is close to The Elves and Faramir mentions that some Gondorians visit Elves still.
Though I like to travel, I am not wood worthy, so that kills my ranger leanings.

I for one WAS answering AE's question -- I am most like to a Fallohide hobbit. If we're talking about taking our life as we live it now and plunking it in the third age, I guess I'd probably be a woman from the outlying area around Minas Tirith, if I were a "man." (Okay, I admit that I have a great deal of un-Goldberry-like moments, but that's why I said I'm more like a hobbit. I'm more down to earth and "real," plus I can be very silly.:) That's why this kind of question can be challenging. One's outlook, personality, actions, and attitudes can be like one character or group, but his looks might be like another, and then some people have listed geographical considerations, and then you have the way the person comes across to others or the way they strive to be. So you still end up with a conglomeration representing who you would be! But it's fun to think about!:) )
