To me it seems like Sauron's Fortress of doom went up pretty quickly the second time around... Does anyine have any ideas how this might have happened?

If it was a pre-fab then that shows just how truly evil Sauron was <shudder>.

Sauron's personal apartment in barad-dur probably looked nicer inside than the dark Tower as a whole.

He was, after all a Maia of Aule, and hence a craftsman capable of appreciating art (?), wealth and ostentatiousness.

And he did teach the Elves to make beautiful Rings, and the One Ring wasn't horrible-looking. Morgoth's Temple on Numenor (his own design?) looked beautiful originally until the silver tarnished from the burnt sacrifices.

He may have had lousy artistic taste though..... probably overdoing the gold and silver and the pink silk curtains and black marble and mahogany and ebony and jade....... and the wastepaper basket made from an elephant's foot and those animal heads.........

I wouldn't hire Sauron as a decorator. :p
