OK now i know I am probably going to get killed in this forum for saying this but what happens if the film does not live up to all the hype that it is recieving. There are plenty of films that have not lived up to expectation. I have solomly vowed not to expect too much form the film incase I got dissappointed. I do want to see it but maby getting too excited about a film that wont even be fully released till 2003. Ah well I am sure it will be a good movie I just don't want to get my hopes up too high as the best movies are alway those that are unexpected hits!

I have considered that this movie won't be a magnificent portrayal of the books. But with all of the Tolkien experts that PJ got and considering that he read each section before he had a part filmed, i think it will be one of the best movie representations...

Do the words 'rankin bass' mean anything to you?
how about 'bakashi'?
Or that z name guy?
I think tolkien would be proud to know that PJ is doing as much as he is to stay true.

I am still kind of worried, but it should be good. I wouldn't know...I haven't seen a single trailer. All the ones I try to download won't come...or maybe I'm just being impatient...I think I'll go try again now.

I'm trying to not let my hopes get too high, but it's hard.

I can't see how the movies will ever be as good as the books. Nevertheless, I'm still looking forward to them. I will always want to retain my own ideas about how things look, but I'm not very imaginative, even with Tolkien's descriptions. And it will be interesting to see how PJ portrays the events and how the actors interpret the characters.

Those who complain that the movies won't be the books, are missing an important point. ONLY THE BOOKS ARE THE BOOKS! Even the Silmarillion isn't the LOTR! All of the history of middle earth series isn't the LOTR! This message board isn't the LOTR! But people who enjoy the LOTR enjoy the other books, and boards like this. We are like the hobbits, who like things they already know set out without contradictions.
So the movies will be enjoyable, because they are about a story we all enjoy, and from everything I've seen, done exceptionally well, even if they aren't the books.
