Name of my House

So, emanating from the Glorfindel thread:

What name would you choose for your House?

I suggest you can choose both your species and your name.

Well, I choose to be from an Elven House; the House of the Lilac Wings.

Well from something I posted under critque and suggestions
for an Afro Elf in tolkien's world

I thought of a Noldarian twist also:

The house of Finarfin was known for their blonde hair.

The character could be from another house.( i think there were 11 houses in gondolin, such as the House of the Golden Flower which Glorfindel was head of and the House of the Harp).

This house could be known for their "rich brown" skin as House Finarfin was known for their golden hair

For a serious house named....

Perhaps House ShadowBlade (i think it sounds very UN-tolkien though)

Because of the skin color of the house members and their penchant for producing superlative swordmen.
in addition they all may carry black blades ( any B.O.C./ blue oyster cult or elric fans? well NOTHING like stormbringer or mournblade)

i designed a tolkien like character ^^ myself as an elf. Her name's Nilthoniel. now, how do you use the house name? Would you call Glorfindel, Glorfindel of the Golden Flower or something?

anyway, how's Fire Falcon sound? I think it looks kind of corny now that i typed it..

I had reservations about using Shadow Blade as a House name. It doesn't sound Tolkien like to me.

I think I would use House of the Autumn Dream.


Darkhalcyon, I think he would be Glorfindel Lord of the House of the Golden Flower.

In the Sil, he is mentioned like "yellow-haired Glorfindel, chief of the House of the Golden Flower of Gondolin". BTW he was one of Turgon´s captains.

Actually, Khumkhero is an older translation (on my part) and really doesn't make much sense.

A better one would be Eglanminai

Hmmm.... Well, my elvish name in Quenya is Maegquener, and I guess my house would be something like House of Dreamtime, or some such nonsense...

Let's see....I would be Eärniel (how logical of me) of the House of the Falling Rain or perhaps the House of the White Gull. Can't really choose....:)
