View Full Version : Gilmore Girls (TV)

I'm warming more and more to this show ever time I see it. After a brilliant, if dissapointing in the ratings, season last year, the girls are back (doncha wish NBC could have ignored the Freaks and Geeks ratings, and admitted they were stoopid about the time slot, like the WB is obviously doing?) Amy Palladino, or whatever her name is, has created a set of characters that one can truly grow close to, and placed them in a quaint New England town, that's just believable enough to keep the show realistic, but populated by some of the funniest characters on TV, characters that can, at times (Kirk with the megaphone!) be as ammusing as some on The Simpsons. Let's chat!

You people scare me with your lack of appreciation for the high quality programming on tv today (much better then most movies). Gilmore Girls is quickly moving into position to tie with Buffy for my second favorite show this year (though with the way Buffy seems to be going Gilmore Girls may end up having no chance by the time the BVS plot this season works itself out).

Just watched this yesterday. Had to tape it since it's on at the same time as Buffy (wish they would move it to Monday's when nothing but the mercurial Angel is on). I had no idea they were filming at Harvard! I live near there, and my mom works there all the time! I wish we'd known, I woulda snuck on the set ;)

chick-flick

Yes, true, very true, but still good. The only watchable chick-flick IMO, especially since it makes fun of chick flicks non stop ;)

This show keeps getting better and better. The fashion show wasn't as sick as the fan dance, but it came pretty damn close!

I know this is an old thread, but I searched, so I don't think anyone else has said this, but in case anyone else already has, I apologize.

On this week's episode, Dean and Rory said that they'd make a compromise. If she went to look at the astronomy section of books, they'd go to see LotR again.

Just something I remember.

They talked about LOTR for like 5 minutes! It was awesome!

I CN'T BELIVE I MISSED THAT. I LOVE THAT SHOW
AND THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT MY FAVORITE MOVIE AND I MISSED IT.

DO YOU REMEMBER SCOTT COHEN WHO PLAY RORY'S TEACHER? HE WAS ALSO IN THE 10th KINGDOM.

I love Gilmore Girls. I think it's greatly written. But it sucks that its in the same timeslot as Buffy!

You should really tape it Laura, Gilmore Girl's just keeps getting better and better. A number of times this season it's actually been superior to Buffy *gasp*

Superior to Buffy?????? WOW!! *gasps* Gee, I should tape it shouldn't I?

What have I said? In general its not, but some of the weaker episodes of Buffy this season were slightly inferior to the increasingly awesome Gilmore Girls.

Just to let everyone know, Lauren Graham, who plays Lorelai, turns 35 on March 16th. I'm pretty sure.

I like Gilmore Girls - it's a cool show. I'm very thankful it's not on the big three networks - otherwise it would have been put in some stupid time slot and have been cancelled before it even got off the ground, ie, Freaks and Geeks.

I just watched Gilmore Girls for the first time a few nights ago, and I LOVED it. It's my new Tuesday night show! I wish I didn't miss them talking about LOTR, though.

I saw the episode on Tuesday where Dean finally realizes that Rory likes Jess. I cried when it ended. I'm a big Dean and Rory fan. I've even gotten to calling Jess "Tess" like Lorelai suggested.
The guy who plays Jess is pretty good, though.

Dean is such a dumbass. Rory and Jess is gonna be really interesting, I can't wait to see where this goes. And ignore the coming attractions, for weeks now they've been completely missleading.

WHAT HAPPENED????? I missed that episode. What happened at the end????????? I swear, if anything happened between Rory and Dean, I will go mad. Actually, I'll laugh. I do something bad to Jess, on my honor (the only question is, do I have any honor?)!!!!!! I'm so mad. The last couple of weeks I have had to do homework instead (*seethe*)!  I really wanna know what's been going on!!!

Well, yes, Dean is too nice.

The preview for next week's is interesting. Car accident.

In last weeks ep Dean realized that Rory likes Jess. Took him long enough!

Don't get it. :(

And I'm *still* pissed that they pulled the plug on Freaks and Geeks.

Wow. didn't expect that ending. Jess gone!

Liviaine

For some reason, I have a hunch that Jess will be back. If not, then that was unexpected!

Lady of Darkness

I hope so, but at the same time, I kinda don't want him back. He gives flavor to GG, but to much turmoil. Life was interesting w/ Jess in it.

My mom seems to think that Jess isn't gone for good and will be back. I don't know if I want him back . I mean, ya, he gives us some very entertaining tv, but what does he give to the show? I still think Rory and Jess would've been better then Rory and the stalker Dean.

WOW! Dean turned into a stalker???!!! COOL! anyway, my sister found a website that has summaries of GG. COOL.:D :D :D

I really hate to miss all these eps because of the new Buffys eps. I guess I'll have to wait till the summer to see the GG eps I've missed, because, heaven forbid I tape them! ;) :) I flip back and forth between GG and Buffy during comercial breaks, and let me tell you, it's not the way to go.

But the stoopid VCR is really mean to me. I think the machines all have it out to get me, except of course my wonderful computer! :)

So's Mine!!!
I LUV GG. I think Rory should dump Dean and go to Jesse. I know, I know, Dean is real sweet and all, but he's kinda been a little (please don't hit me) pathetic these past few weeks.
Was the 14th or the 21st the season finale?

Liviaine
05-23-2002, 08:59 PM
Saw the season finale 2 days ago on the 21st. The end was sad. I knew Chris wouldn't marry Lorelai, but I actually thought he might stick around for more than 10 minutes of episode.

Darth Tater
05-24-2002, 08:44 AM
Great finale. Chris really wanted to stay, but the fact is he did the right thing, and Lorelai knows it. Rori kissed Jess, finally! Adios boring Dean! And Jackson wore a skirt.

Lady of Darkness
05-25-2002, 03:52 PM
I know this is really pathetic but I'm kinda hoping that Sheri will lose the baby and then something will happen so Laurali and Chris will get together. Evil side's fault, sorry. anyway, Jackson looked soooo funny in his Kilt!!!!! I hope no one was kilt from laughter.( sorry, bad joke)

I think the comment was probably directed at all your points minus the excrutiatingly painful pun that has no place in a thread discussing such a brilliantly written show :p

Maybe I shouldn't post since the last reply was a month ago, but I will anyway. Forgive me if I'm breaking anything.

Anyway, Gilmore Girls is declared "The Best Show You're Not Watching" by TV Guide. It says that episodes of the first season will air on Sundays at 7:00 p.m. ET this fall. I started watching at the beginning of the second season because the show got good reviews.
