The best show on television is back, big time!!!!!!!!!! I am so incredibly psyched after Manchester Part 1!!!! I cannot explain how much I love this show. Aaron Sorkin is an absolute genious, easilly the best screenwriter Hollywood has ever seen. I am really really looking forward to what happens with the CJ character this season. Sorkin knows he has one of the worlds best actors in Allyson Janey (sp probably, forgive me for misspelling the name of brilliance! ;)), and her slip up is gonna make for some incredible television. I'm just so excited!!!!

I know there are other West Wing fans here, cause I've talked to them! Have ppl not figured out this forum exists yet?
Anywho, this weeks episode rocked, of course, but I was dissapointed by one thing:
Charlie: They need you CJ
Bartlet: I need you to
I think it drove the point home in too obvious of a manner, especially since the scene was followed by a talk on not dumbing things down. It should have been
Charlie: They need you CJ
Bartlet nods

Aarrrggghhhh! I missed the season opener! I love this show but don't always get to watch it. It's definitely the best thing on TV. The story lines are good and the characters are people I can care about.

It's definatly a reason to stay home on Wed. nights! I love the pace of the show...it's furious and challenging. Favorite character - Charlie. Intelligence is sexy!

I loved Sam's line to Charlie last year "Just how smart are you?"

And Charlie's response, "I got game." lol

Oh man! Last nights episode rocked! Ainsley Hayes (SP?) is back! Wahoo! Greatest Aaron Sorkin comic relief character ever! And that pens thing was so heartbreaking!
But most importantly, CJ is so incredibly cool! The Emmy's should get rid of the best actress category and replace it with the "all hale Allyson Janney" award

CJ is too sexy for her shirt, apparently.

I'm trying to bring back this thread because I have no one to talk about West Wing with!
My favorite character would have to be Josh. I liked Sam, but he's gone :(
Rosie
I didn't know this thread existed. I also have almost no one to talk about West Wing with. My mother and I get together every Wednesday to watch it, even if it's a rerun, and neither of us has met anyone in our town who watches it. In fact, I did a study abroad program with a hundred people from all over the U.S., and not one of them watched it either. Yet it's a hit show. Someone must watch it! I think each episode is like seeing an Oscar-caliber movie every week. I have to tape it every week not only because the great scenes are worth seeing over and over, but also I have to get my head around all the government stuff I missed the first time. Miss Donnatella Moss is my favorite character.

I love the west wing too. I did know this thread existed, but I have been to lazy to post. :) I havn't seen the new season yet, here in Australia we have to wait ages for new episodes of TV shows. I was totally shocked last season when the secret service agent who was guarding CJ was killed. I love President Bartlett, I wish he really was the president. I'm not that familiar with American politics, so sometimes I don't understand all which goes on, but it is much much better than all those stupid reality TV shows.
I didn't enjoy tonight's episode: CJ dealing with her dad's Alzheimer's. It was like an episode of ER. And my mom noticed in the credits that Aaron Sorkin wasn't involved. I fear for the future of this show. At one commercial break, after one-plot-line focus on CJ and her dad with only a couple cuts to the White House, I said to my mom, "I really want to hear about the national deficit. Or Middle Eastern rogue states. Or the ambassador to Paraguay." sigh.
Cassiopeia, I'm sorry if I've included too much spoiler information.

Don't worry, I live for spoilers. :D Didn't Aaron Sorkin get busted for drugs? Now that the X-files has gone (actually the last episode hasn't screened here yet), if the West Wing goes as well, there is not going to be much interesting TV shows on. And I don't classify Big Brother and Survivor as interesting.

Huan, I know what you mean. I started watching it, but it just didn't hold my interest.

I agree this episode wasn't too good. I hope that they don't start focusing too much on the individual characters. One of the reasons I love West Wing is because it's really about what it's about. It isn't about the relationships between the characters set in a law firm or whatever, like so many other shows. It''s pretty obvious that they're building up Donna's character because she and Josh are going to get together :(
Cassiopeia, Aaron Sorkin's drug bust was a while ago. It was at least before last season. His drug problems haven't gotten in his way yet! He's stated that he just wants to start weaning himself away from the show so he can concentrate on new projects. My mom also noticed that Llwellyn (or however you spell it) Wells, the producer, wasn't in the credits. And we know we've already lost Rob Lowe! My poor favorite show...sob

I agree. I think it the show is better in the West Wing! That's what the show is called, and that's where it should stay!

I love TWW! I chill over at TwOP sometimes. I missed this weeks (not a terrible loss) but I'd like to talk about it.

I think this week is a rerun. :(
What do you all think about Sam's replacement Will Baily?
Rosie
Well, although I am sad that Sam left (and that Rob Lowe's reason had to be about money), I think they couldn't have chosen a better replacement. The actor, Joshua Malina, is an Aaron Sorkin veteran (Sports Night, The American President), and I think he'll fit in wonderfully. My only gripe so far is that I wish they'd give his sister (Winnie Cooper from The Wonder Years) more screen time. I had such a crush on her when I was 12.

I thought that was an impressive episode last night (Feb. 5th) I really enjoyed Joshua Malina's character, and I have a feeling that he won't be leaving in three days like he insists. :)
And poor Donna. I wonder why her military boyfriend was transferred. Could he be going to help the troops that the President will probably deploy?
Rosie
He was transferred out of spite, because he ruffled commanding-officer tail feathers by following his commander-in-chief's direct order. Very nasty. Also probably because Christian Slater's got other things on his plate, although I haven't seen him in anything in a zillion years. I thought most of the episode was great, but there were way more things I didn't follow than usual. Donna called Josh "Sir." brrrrr! Am I right that they never actually let us know that Charlie had stopped seeing the President's daughter, or did I just miss something last season?

I haven't seen the most recent one! Stupid history test! Oh well, I taped it and I'll go watch it now. I think there was something about Charlie/Zoey breakup, but it was a pretty minor plot thread and I don't remember specifics.

WOW, this is a good thread! I love the West Wing. Contrary to my friend Stephanie, I actually like Will Baily. He's funny. He's got something large and pointy stuck up his butt, but he's funny. I hope Elsie keeps hanging around. I know she's got stuff to do for Abbey, but it's funny to watch her bait Will.
Was anyone else pissed last Wednesday that they put on Law & Order instead?
YES!!! Especially since TV Guide said there would be a West Wing. And instead we get TWO Law and Orders. Because you can't ever get reruns of Law and Order anywhere, can you? grrr
