i have a question.

when you read the books (or just when ever) do you maybe go to your room, close your door, and then do stuff like jump around and wave air swords around and pretened?

i do. i just wandered if older people did it too.

(i like to be a wizard and cast spells and stuff)

I haven't done that when I went to my room and read the books, but hey, I'm boring. Sounds like you have a great imagination.:)

No, but I had a friend that had a horse growing up and he use to pretend that he was Gandalf riding around on Shadowfax.

My brother use to think he was Aragorn when he was a teenager. When he grew up, he got away from the books and now it has been so long that he barely remembers any of it. We were talking the other day, and he told me that I was worse with Tolkien than some people are with the bible, meaning I was a fanatic. I reminded him of how he use to be and how he once loved it. He said that he still does. I don't believe him though. I wish he did. Then I would have someone in person to talk to about the books. (sigh):(

I express my Tolkien enthusiasm through different forms of artwork. Some you've seen (like my pics), some you'll never see (like the five minute movies i've made of Strider's introduction or the destruction of the ring. They're so bad it's scary ;))

I think everyone expresses there love for the books in a different way, okay so maybe your the only one that locks yourself in your room and jumps on the bed waving swords but hey... Like Darth Tater I do artwork, you can check in out in the Tolkien Trail or on my site (http://www.angelfire.com/trek/sakata).

I'm a LOTR fanfic junkie. I haven't written too much of it, but I love reading it and I'm always thinking up plots. It's kind of a more socially acceptable form of "make-believe". (Come to think of it, I was playing "let's pretend" up until seventh grade. It was fun! Do it while you can; while being a teenager is cool, there are plenty of days when I'd like to be ten again.)

you might wanna try role playing games. i was a year or two younger than you when i started.

NOT the computer ones though. i mean the book, pencil, paper ones.

you create your own character who has abilities and skills like
strength, intelligence and magic and you go on your own adventures and quests.

the most famous is dungeons and dragons. i don't like it because it gets carried away with magic and not on "playing a character"

BUT it is a good place to start.

you can even be a human, elf, dwarf or even a hobbit. ( they are called halflings in the game)

Don't worry Tesseract, you’re not alone. I do that too.:D Sometimes when I get to an exciting part in a book I just can't continue laying there reading. I need to get up and move around a bit so my body can match may thoughts and emotions. I don't think about it when I do it. One minute I'm just reading and the next minute I realize that I'm moving about my room as if I were one of the characters in the book. I guess I'm just more imaginative than all you boring people out there.

haha...someone said up there that they played "pretend" until seventh grade. I'm in ninth grade...I still play "pretend." Name any topic from bomb shelters to Gondor...I've probably played it.

But I was never really into "house." My friends and I started with "Little House on the Prarie," Were CONVINCED we saw Narnia, and later became orphans and the like. It was really fun. Too bad most of my friends got 'too old and mature' for that.

Anyway...yes, I react to LOtR by acting it out. In fact, I can't go a paragraph without at least doing it in my head. (Hmm...maybe THAT'S what took me so long getting through them...) :D
