Generaly, a good article, with a couple of stupid statements from jealous authors(or wanabies). One quote from Michael Moorcock..."The Lord of the Rings...is Winnie the Pooh posing as an epic." (sour grapes)! Another jealous writer, Germaine Greer, said "It has been my nightmare that Tolkien would turn out to be the most influential writer of the 20th century," she said. "The bad dream has materialized."
Because these authors cannot compete they make stupid, thoughtless remarks!
The rest of the article is all positive and a good read! I also found out that a Tolkien scholar, and former Oxford fellow, teaches at St. Louis University(my home town!). I wonder if I can look him up!
I suppose the article can be found online. Any other opinions?
