Shrek

A very interesting press release from
Dreamworks. It's next animated flick
(and in IMAX 3D too) is 'Shrek'.

It is a story about a 'cynical ogre whose
swamp is over-run by fairytale creatures'.

It has a general release May 2001, and then
moves to an IMAX release.

Lots of big-names on board this one, like
Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, Eddie Murphy and
John Lithgow.

Why do I get a funny feeling that this
is a copycat genre film, running on the pre-
publicity coat-tails of LoTR?

I dunno, has this ever happened before, lol?!

Hi K'hay,

Well that cartoon sounds cute (something I would like to take my lil brother to go see) but it definetly sounds like a rip off of LOTR, and this probably won't be the first one we see either. Someone on this board mentioned another fantasy movie that is a lot like LOTR. It seems that being a copycat is the thing in the media, instead of being original we see the same type of movies everywhere :lol: , I guess that is how they figure to make money.

Ya, my rip-off alarm started shrieking
too when I heard about this movie.

Although...maybe I am wrong. And maybe
'Antz' and 'Bug's Life' were just the
biggest cosmic coincidence, lol!

If this movie is a success I bet we will see alot of LOTR rip offs. Who knows we might see a movie about mobbits soon. :evil: .

Other than being set in a fantasy environment, I honestly fail to see any real connection to LotR...

just saw Shrek. Good movie, superb animation! Not a ripoff of LotR at all!(unless you consider any fantasy to be a ripoff!)
