...it's just really bugging me! In Close Encounters of the Third Kind, what are those five notes repeated a lot throughout the movie? It's killing me, and I can't seem to find it anywhere else!

If I had access to a keyboard or piano I could tell you. If you could point me to a program that works like a piano or something I could help you out.

Okay, I found a program to download and I figured out the notes in a random key, but I think it will be what you are looking for. Remember I doubt this is the exact key that they used in the movie.

G A F C D

Hope that helps...if not, I still found a cool program. :)

No, anduin - it's "G A F low-F C" in the key you seem to be doing it in (F major).

The intervals are: up a major 2nd, down a major 3rd, down an octave, and up a perfect 5th.

LOL! Your right IP....I didn't think it sounded quite right, but it has been a loooooong time since I've seen the movie.
