Mystery Characters: Meteor Man and Halbrand

Lots of theories being tossed around about these two.

Most that I read think that the Meteor Man is Olorin/Gandalf. I hope not. That's too obvious. I hope he is none of the Istari. Possibly Aule on a visit for some purpose (I don't see his name suggested anywhere). (EDIT: I've joked that he's Jesus - forgive me Lord!)

Early on - some guessed that Halbrand was Sauron. I never thought so. He might be a good character - but I suspect he will get a Ring, become a great king, and eventually - the Witch King.

What are your theories?

Well it turns out the most popular opinions were the correct ones, Meteor being Gandalf and Halbrand being Sauron. Makes sense. But I think Meteor Man is one of the Blue Wizards, who will meet up with second Blue Wizard and betray the annoying pointless hobbit girl to her death.

I think they are doing a very good job making it entertaining.
