This is a spillover from the Lit threads, but it appears there is some serious works in play to create both a Wheel of Time (https://www.tor.com/2017/04/24/excitement-and-dread-looking-ahead-to-the-wheel-of-time-tv-series/) and a Black Company (http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/eliza-dushku-star-david-goyer-fantasy-adaptation-black-company-996769) TV series to carry on the formula coat tails of the successful Game of Thrones TV series. Could be interesting to see what develops.

Usually these things produce more misses than hits. I remember a few years back the Shannara or the Earthsea miniseries receiving a very lukewarm reception. (And considering Earthsea even then lots of comments on Holywood's inability to cast actors of colour for characters of colour.)

Or maybe I'm still disappointed that the rumour about a series based on Terry Pratchett's Disc World books concerning The Watch didn't come to fruition...

I've watched a few episodes of Shannara, despite not liking the books and I quite liked it. Then the airing times changed and I stopped watching though.

I think Wheel of Time may have some legs with some smart editing. The best are personal stories set inside a fantasy realm and Jordan was good with the personal.
