In Two Towers, “The Departure of Boromir”, after they’ve buried Boromir near the end of the chapter, Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli…drew up the last boat and carried it to the trees. They laid beneath it such of their goods as they did not need and could not carry away. Then they left Parth Galen. So in the trees next to Parth Galen is an Elven boat made of a wood so uncommon that even Legolas cannot identify it. There’s probably at least one coil of Elvish rope made of hithlain. There may also be a few overlooked pieces of Elvish waybread (hobbits exhibit a tendency to hide food, and no doubt Pippin’s and Merry’s packs were left with the boat: too much baggage to haul), along with many other items. Besides Lórien, some items probably came Rivendell; some might have been picked up in Moria; and surely Boromir’s pack was left behind.
The little cache was priceless. Not only was its value unassessable, but there were items belonging to people both living and dead that folks in Minas Tirith would want to keep. (How many mortals in Middle-earth could say they had an Elvish boat? or Elvish rope?)
Did you ever wonder if Aragorn ever retrieved these things? Not personally, but surely he thought to send someone for them, to bring them to Minas Tirith?
