Has anyone read anything by the British author David Gemmell? I haven`t seen his name mentioned here and I would heartily recommend him to you.
He writes `heroic` fantasy and has had around 20 books (I own all of them) published so far. My personal favourites are "Lion of Macedon" and "Prince of Darkness", which are about Parmenion, who was one of Alexander the Great`s generals. These are NOT historical fiction, though. You`ll know what I mean once you have read them. He writes to a consistently high standard and all his novels are excellent.
I am not sure how well-known Gemmell is outside the UK (where I am from) or how easily available his books are overseas, but if you come across any I strongly advise you to give him a try.
