Alright - even if, like me, you want to be the purist of the purists, is there ANYthing you wouldn't mind if Peter Jackson changed from the book version of The Hobbit in making the movie? For myself, these are some things I'd like:
* Some Gondolin backstory when we find out about the origin of the swords. Even just some visuals. Particularly a shot of Glorfindel - esp if we see he right there at Rivendell (echoing how we saw Elrond in flashback at War with Sauron, and also telling the story at Rivendell - in LOTR).
* Inclusion of Aragorn & Arwen story - even if it means pushing Aragorn's age over 10.
* White Council membership - and their action in driving out 'whatever it is' in Dol Guldor.
* Following up - perhaps at the end, Sauron announcing himself openly in Mordor.
* Maybe after Balin and Gandalf visit Bilbo back in the Shire, post adventure - we see Balin and a troop of Dwarves leaving Erebor, heading off to Moria.
* Gollum leaves the Misty Mountains and tries to follow Bilbo.

Anybody else?

Definitely the White Council.

And Balin heading to Moria would be a small bridge to the events of LotR, and as such might be a good idea.

I don't think I would mind any of your other suggestions either :D The more the merrier ...
