I just recently read this book which I bought at a Value Village (kind of like a Goodwill), and I have to say that it is one of the best fantasy books I have ever read.
Heck, it's one of the best books I've ever read, period.
This book has everything you could wish for; an original idea, fluent writing, fast-paced, emotional, dramatic, and romantic (nothing downright nasty but it's probably not for the very young). It might be offensive to some religious readers, since it uses demons (though an expanded and different idea of "demon") quite a bit.

Unfortunatly it was made in the early 70s and is now out of print. :(
You won't even find it as an "out of print" link at Amazon.com because it became out became out of print before the website was created.

If you ever see one in your local used book store, be sure to pick it up!

Has anyone else read it, or it's sequel "The Crystal Palace" (which was only half as good as the original)?

Hmmm, I think I may have heard of that. Quite a while ago, though, and I don't have any idea what it was about.
