National Public Radio is polling for the 100 Most Important American Musical Compositions of the 20th Century. They are doing this by public voting; 300 works have been selected by various scholars and NPR personalities, and now the public gets to select from those the top 100. Then, throughout the year 2000 NPR will do features on the 100 selected works. Voting can be done by snail mail or at their website. The score to "Star Wars: A New Hope" is among those in the preliminary 300. Maybe we fans can get it onto the final 100!! (This may also give some legitimacy to film music, which tends to be looked down upon by serious musicians) Go vote! :)
