I think it's high time we started one of these. I don't expect it will be a huge hit, but last night I found myself in an academic conversation about the possibility of Chuck and Ned having kids and if that would actually work, and I realized that the concept of the show has a LOT of implications which would fuel quite an interesting thread.

Hence the amazing new Pushing Daisies thread.

This is absolutely my favorite current television show.

Which means it is likely to be canceled any minute now. I have horrible luck with television.

As for Chuck and Ned conceiving, maybe if there was some artificial insemination involved it could work.

Midge

That's what my mom thought...

But then... do you think it wouldn't kill her if the "insemination" came from Ned?

How technical are we getting here?

I'm so glad to see that there are other fans besides me and Empress Flynn!

Sign this Petition to Save Pushing Daisies! (http://www.petitiononline.com/daisies/petition.html) I did.

About the insemination, I wonder. While there would be millions of cells with Ned's DNA, I'm thinking the "dead again forever" must only come from living skin to living skin contact.

Surely he's left hairs and dead skin cells all around that Chuck has touched without harm.

But if artificial insemination wouldn't work, perhaps in vitro fertilization would work. Once the egg is fertilized it is neither Ned nor Chuck. It is someone new, so presumably Chuck could carry the child to term.

I'll go sign the petition. I didn't even know the show was in danger, aside from the fact that I'm a fan. I'll have to tell my "Cupid" story when I have more time.

That is what I'm wondering too. I have considered that. I hadn't even thought of in vitro.

I'm just pleased Anna Friel is still getting work. Though her best moment will always be snogging Margaret in "Brookside".

I gave a persuasive speech today telling my classmates to watch the show on Wednesdays at 7:00! I got a 98! *excitement!*

Anyway.... they were all, "Oh, wow... That looks good." My professor asked who would probably watch it and a whole bunch of them raised their hands (the class is mostly girls).

It was encouraging.

Well, I won't be around too much for the next few weeks to take part in this thread, but good topic, Midge! :)

I'll sign the petition right now!

And I'm also getting the fairies to bring me this week's episode as we speak because I am back in the land of the Britons and it's not on over here lol.

I think they keep track of hits at the show's website on abc.com so if we watch episodes on there, they'll know about it, even if we're not Nielsen people.

Another great episode last night. I can really see this show getting canceled. It is too good for television.

Word is it's canceled: http://ausiellofiles.ew.com/2008/11/breaking-abc-pa.html

That's too bad, this show was fantastic. TV needs more like it. Creative, engaging, interesting, great acting... le sigh. :(

From what I've read... ABC is not officially saying it's canceled, but they haven't ordered a full season of episodes for it yet....

So, things are not dead, but they're not looking too great either...

I still have to watch this week's episode... I can't even watch it on the abc website because it won't work internationally...

Oh well, keeping my fingers crossed for it!

Looks like it's over, at least for ABC. There are still revival efforts but they rarely seem to work.

This week's episode was one of the best ever. My favorites are always the ones that feature Kristin(Olive) and her beautiful singing. I heart her.

The question I have now is: Will they air the remaining five filmed episodes or will they be lost forever, never to be seen?

Midge

She sang in the episode on Wednesday? I completely forgot what it was about because I had a friend over and she made me watch the entirety of the first season, which I have on DVD.

Man. Now I am super depressed because PD looks like it's going. :(

You can view any of the episodes on ABC.com with only brief commercial interruptions. If you're a PD fan, you will definitely want to see this episode, IMO.

Also, don't just search youtube for a clip of the song. It's much better in context. Unrequited love always gets to me. :(

It's on again tonight. Apparently they are going to wrap up the filmed episodes, or at least some of them. Looks like we have as many as five more eps to watch as ABC slowly tears our hearts out for the next month.

I hate that network. I've hated them since Cupid. When they canceled that show, I didn't watch a single ABC show until last summer when someone convinced me to watch a taped episode of Pushing Daisies. Fell in love instantly. Decided to give ABC another chance this fall when PD started again.

And they cancel the best show on television, the only show I watch, AGAIN!

I'm done with ABC forever.

Oh, I saw the episode. I know it had Chuck's dad coming back to life and Dwight Dixon dying because Chuck kept her dad alive.

I just don't really remember what song Olive sang.

I'm watching the new episode now. It's so freaking upsetting! I think that Ned should just pull the plug.

The Dread Pirate Roberts
12-11-2008, 09:47 AM
Agreed. Ned should have touched Chuck's dad in their apartment and just explained to Chuck that her dad's fear of living in quarters too close to Ned apparently were true. He wouldn't have had to tell her it was on purpose.

Ned's kind of a wuss, frankly. And Chuck's dad is every bit as bad a guy as Dwight was. Maybe even worse.

Grrrr.. Chuck's dad drives me CRAZY! Now he's GONE! Well, for tying up some ends, it's opened up others!

I LOVED the part where Emerson tells Olive, "You won me over, Itty Bitty." That made me happy. And how he called them his "Pie-Hole Peeps"

The Dread Pirate Roberts
12-14-2008, 09:45 PM
That is a great nickname for Olive. I think Emerson's going to be on her side more and more. He never quite warmed up to "dead girl."

Look at me, talking about this as if it's going to continue beyond four more episodes. What a ripoff. :(

Another episode tonight. Enjoy them while you can!!!

Midge
12-18-2008, 02:45 AM
Mmm... I LOVE Olive. It's at times like what happened tonight that I really don't like Chuck. Unrequited love does NOT deserve to be only thrown bones once in a while. It deserves to be rewarded with .... love back.

"I wouldn't say 'never'." Gave me chills, and made me so happy to see the smile on her face.

The Dread Pirate Roberts

I watched PD for the first time because I heard Kristin Chenoweth was on it. She's been my 'itty-bitty' since before I ever saw this show. I really like where they've gone with both Olive and Emerson this season. Chuck and Ned are almost incidental to my enjoyment of the show.

I also think that if the show continued, they'd eventually have to let Olive in on everything.

Midge
12-18-2008, 01:29 PM
I want Olive to know. It's so totally not fair that her version is "faking death"! I loved the point where she looked at Ned and said, "Itty Bitty's always on your side!" With that kind of devotion, she deserves to know, although I understand where Ned is coming from. That's just one more secret she'd have to keep, although admittedly she would be in the know with the Pie-Hole Peeps. That would probably be one secret she doesn't mind knowing, instead of a bunch of people telling her secrets and then telling her not to tell other people she sees all the time.

"I scream, you scream, we all scream cuz you faked your death!" One of the best lines EVER.

It's so funny, because whenever I think of Pushing Daisies, I always start to talk in that fast-paced way they do. I make me laugh.

The Dread Pirate Roberts

While we're talking about who knows, who doesn't know, and who should know, I have to admit that I never bought into the rationale for keeping Chuck from her aunts. It's just a contrived plot device; I find the stated reasons absurd.

Midge
12-18-2008, 02:23 PM
Well, I could definitely see Lily and Vivian having heart attacks, for one thing. They're not young anymore. They nearly killed Ned the time he warned them to watch out for the spirit of Chuck hanging around their house (when he told her he killed her dad and she was hiding out at Olive's).

The Dread Pirate Roberts

No episode tonight or next week. Could it be over? Three episodes left in the can, never to be seen? :(

Midge
12-24-2008, 03:54 PM
NO!!!! Please, no!!! Don't take away my Pushing Daisies! Get rid of everyone except Emerson, Olive, Ned and the Aunts, but don't take it all away! PLEASE, ABC!!!!

No, the remaining episodes will still air. Most shows are off until the new year. I can't believe that they canceled this though! Brilliant TV is always canned, while some awful stuff just keeps on getting renewed. Ah well, I suppose we were all lucky that it got a second season.

The final episode has been edited to provide a bit of closure. So that's good. I think.

This is an amazing show! I am halfway through season 1 now. It's a pity a great show like this got canceled.
