Maedhros (or Nelyafinwë Maitimo in Quenya), is the eldest son of Fëanor. He's a bit of a wimp, and can't handle the fire when it comes to leading, so he passes it off to incompetent Half-Uncle Fingolfin, after which everything goes to proverbial 'hell in a handbasket.'

Curufin was kidding...I hope. Maedhros survived the torment of Morgoth to wield sword left-handed as deadly as ever with his right. The only one in Middle Earth tough enough to take out Maedhros was Maedhros. And unlike his brothers, he didn't get outsmarted by Men who were supposed to be his friends. ;)

I like all the sons of Fëanor, actually. They're all special in their own ways. :) Maedhros is one of my favorites, and I actually play him in several RP's.
