I've read this book, because my sister read it. And I actually thought it was pretty good. And I was just reminded that it's being made into a movie, so I found the trailer.

I'm afraid that the evil villain does not come across as at all menacing, due to...the rather unfortunate fact that I know him best for another role...

... sorry, but this seems like it's going to be terribly anti-climactic.
Sort of like bridge to teribithia. :-p

I'm not terribly impressed, I agree.

I really dont know if I'll go see this. It may have been a great book (I wouldnt know, having not read it) but, to me at least, it doesnt look like a great movie.

I showed my sister this...she completely cracked up at the section where Capricorn says "I love duct tape!" And I can see why. It's a perfect Smeagol moment!

Ah ha! Thank you, Curub! It had been bugging me about where I'd seen Capicorn. I was laughing my butt off at the trailer. Of course I laugh my butt off at some of the craziest stuff. Ok I shut up now

I did like this book, and I bought the 2nd one but haven't read it yet. My impressions from the trailer: Meggie looks maybe a little old, so does the aunt. Dustfinger looks cool. I think Brendan Fraiser is too emotional for Mo, but maybe not. Capricorn = FUNNY!

I read all the books and I love them!!! THe movie was okay but they did take out some stuff and Brendan Fraiser is to emotional for Mo but otherwise it was good. Dustfinger was awesome exactly how i imagined him.

I read the second book because my library only had that and not the first or third ones, which I hear are really good. But I was really pleased in which the way they portrayed Dustfinger because he is my fave character in the series (besides Silvertongue). }:)
I was really rather disappointed with books 2 and 3. Would you say I should watch the film? Is the film able to draw you in and make you think of the possibilities like book 1 does?
NB: Thorir, what are you trying to say in you second quote in your sig? It is Dutch, but it seems a bit botched. Where is it from? :)

What it says is : Horns reverb in the Northland, the lust for war is born. It is from the area close to Germany in Denmark so I dont know if it is why it looks botched.
