It hasn't seen much action lately, and I could move all the posts into the movie forum, and create a Music Forum to put the SW Music stuff in along with other music.

It's one BIG re-org job...

The SW forum doesn't have as lively conversation as the LotR forums, & isn't as crowded (full?), so i think combining it with the movies would be a good idea, or at least not a bad idea, while things stay this calm. but as SW ep. 2 approaches, is it likely to get busier? i havne't been at Entmoot long enough to pick up things like that. i'm not an admin so my opinion probably won't decide anything, but with the way this forum is now i think it's a good idea.

Yeah, I think it should go, but are you really up to organizing 800+ posts, even with the bulk topic function?

As the situation is now it could go if you can do it :) .

Well, originally, this board went along with my old website, which was Tolkien and Star Wars. In the early days of the board, there were three Star Wars forums [SW Movies, Books and Comics (later changed to Expanded Universe), and SW Music] but a few months ago I combined them all.
However, Entmoot is now a part of the Tolkien Trail, which has no Star Wars elements. Even though this forums looks big, it really hasn't gotten very many posts in the past few months. On the bottom of the first page are posts from April.
It would be a large task, certainly, but what we could do is just close down this forum and slowly move all the topics. I wouldn't mind help ;) .

i'm not sure. perhaps there have been few posts lately because there haven't been important SW news... but things surely will go hotter in some months and then i'd like to comment them here.
but perhaps, you're right and we can do that at the movies forum...

Why not have the music forum now?

Ok...I really think you should keep the SW Forum. It's been here in some form or another since the first days of this board. We loose a part of this place if you just combine it with movies. Also, as mentioned, Episode is filming and many detials are coming out constantly, so it will heat up here. I say keep it.
About the Music forum, I think you should change the name of the Movies forum to Entertainment, which would include movies, music, tv, games, and much more.

I like the idea of an Entertainment forum, but then again people could just use General Messages if they want to talk about those things, and generally do. Still, I am not opposed to the idea and have always liked Thrawn's suggestion.

IMO, big boards are always devoted to one thing. For example, the JC is completely Star Wars (apart from Community, which most boards have). There isn't even a "vs" forum.
I think that as its membership becomes bigger (in the little time I've been here it has almost doubled) Entmoot is turning into a professional bulletin board. It's definitely far away from being an all-round personal board like many EzBoards are.
Now, to become more professional (and of course, it's now part of TolkienTrail), and lose all elements of being just yet another bloke's personal board, concentrate on Tolkien's work.
BTW - why don't the Fangorn Forest links point to Entmoot yet? And why don't you register www.entmoot.com (http://www.entmoot.com) to greatly simplify the address - the fairly complicated EzBoard one surely loses visitors.

Thanks for your input Darth ATAT. As you suggested, I made the Fangorn link go to Entmoot, at least for the time being. Eventually there will be a whole Fangorn section with Entmoot-related stuff (list of members, rules, etc.)
As for Entmoot.com... I checked a few months ago and it was taken. I guess they stopped paying or something. For now you can use the cjb.net address: entmoot.cjb.net (http://entmoot.cjb.net)
I remember that you mentioned elsewhere that Entmoot should have the TT sidebar. That's certainly a possibility, and we're testing it out. I just slapped the sidebar onto a stupid board and it looks kind of awful. But we can work out a better solution, I'm sure. If you're curious, you can see it here: pub10.ezboard.com/bnomoreemails (http://pub10.ezboard.com/bnomoreemails)

Cool.
Am I still an admin there?
If only there were ATATs in LOTR

Oh, I just noticed that the banner sez "dedicated to the works of JRR Tolkien". This is, of course, rendered incorrect by the presence of a Star Wars forum.

This thread seems to have died since the Star Wars discussion has picked up again, but I'd like to suggest you keep this forum no matter what happens to Entmoot. In fact, if it hadn't been for Star Wars, I wouldn't have found this great place.
As for how large sites tend to focus on strictly one topic, I have to disagree. There are certainly many "mondo" sites out there which deal with only one topic, but Xenite.Org is not one of them. We're big into Xena, Tolkien, Edgar Rice Burroughs, and somewhat into other topics. In fact, just today we completely changed out our forums and I've expanded our discussion topics to include many areas we haven't addresses before.
A little variety goes a long way, I think, to helping define the unique character of a Web site.
Of course, if you REALLY want to get rid of the Star Wars discussion, then please send everyone over to our new Star Wars forum (mwahahaha!)....

Yeah, as you probably already know this question is going to be a little off topic. How do you become these "administrators" and "moderators"?

Hullo Maiar Spirit. :) Admins and mods are chosen by the admins, with input from the mods of course. ;) When there is a need, like if the number of members are getting larger, or if a mod or admin quit or leave the board (hehe or are banned;) ), then we make a topic about it in the mod forum and discuss whether we even need a new mod or admin....and if so, who should it be. Currently there are 3 admins.....bmilder, Darth Tater, and myself. There are 2 mods.....Fat Middle, The One Ring, and 6 Hobbit mods (only oversee the Hobbit forum): HOBBIT, Elanor the Hobbit, IronHobbit, TaterTot the Hobbit, thehobbit96, and The One Hobbit.
Oh, and don't pay any attention to the rumor that if you are getting near the rank of Elven Lord (500 posts made on this board) that we will make you a mod so we don't have to give that title out.

As facination as the admin/mod conversation is, I have more to say on the SW forem topic. Ben, if you started to store the old topics somewhere accessable, then the forem would be more tidy and manageable. And it would be easier to see what is actually there. I think that some people don't want to start a new topic because they see that there is already one there, not realizing that that topic was from a few months ago. But I do definately think that the forum should stay, for the sake of diversity, and because many SW fans are also Tolkien fans.
