As of last night, I have. Absolutely magnificent, and terribly tragic. I recommend that anyone who doesn't require punches to be pulled watch it. A beautiful movie about a beautiful soul. I love the fact that they use a lot of her original recordings (usually, the ones with a lot of instruments); she had such a glorious voice. I've fallen head over heels in love with her this summer.

I've heard a few of her songs, quite nice...but after awhile, somewhat too artificial for my tastes. The movie is french, so it should be abundantly "authentic":p.

At least you didn't have your Nazi glove to slap me with;)
I haven't seen it, so I probably shouldn't make a judgement. On the other hand, Amelie was pretty bad even if I didn't see it:p.

It's a great film in its own right, but I think the "troubled musician bio-pic" subgenre is getting a bit stale in a structural sense. It's gotten to the point where they're basically all the same movie, and the only reason why some are considerably better than others is that they have the right combination of a) good music, b) terrific lead acting, and c) a capable director who knows how to shoot it all. Thankfully, La vie en rose had all three.
I'm waiting for someone to come along and actually break new ground in the genre, though, or at least tell a more focused story than "The life of (insert musician here)" - among recent bio-pics, Capote is a good example of what I'm talking about.

Like Jon Stewart's comment at the Oscars about all the remakes being made...
"I tell you the movies that do very well, the remakes. King Kong, made that a couple of times, this time, smash hit. War of the Worlds, remake, tremendous. Walk the Line... that was Ray, with white people. Remakes!"
