You know, I never wanted the one ring, but was lucky enough to get one of the elven brooches. However around here, no one ever recognizes what it is when I wear it.

Just to clarify, you all own cheap knock-offs of a cheap knock-off of a brilliant book.

That is all. :p

Tis true.........but I love my knock-off of the elven brooch :D and if I weren't so cheap and had money to burn, I would have bought an elven cloak too. The outfit that made them for the film was selling similar ones to fans, too.

I have an orginal One Ring but with a few of the Tengwar characters missing due to practical reasons. It has some backstory, but sadly I have not had grey clad wizards at my door saying I have to go off and save the world. I feel a bit cheated. :D

I want one! Where do you get a One Ring anyway?

I'm not up for a personal trip to the Cracks of Doom and giving up half my soul to forge one. :p

I own one that is similar....my hubby had a girl who is studying to be a metalsmith make it...it's gold and it has an inscription that she carved in it using tengwar which mimics the One Ring's inscription. I love it!

hahaha i got mine out of a magazine and i love it, iv had it since the release of The Two Towers. If you want to find one u can find a ton of "licensed and unlicensed" companies that make them just by doing a google search. I currently own:
-The One Ring
-Legolas' Knives
-Sauruman's Staff
-and soon to be **The Witch King of Angmar's Sword**.
(very excited about this one)

Speaking of swords, these guys make some real nice ones, though quite expensive.

One of my favorites: http://www.raven-armoury.co.uk/stormbringer.htm

I got mine with Lord of the Rings Trivial Pursuit Trilogy Edition. It's fake-looking and kind of cheap. I'm a little embarassed to admit even here that I'm wearing it on a chain right now. :o :D But that's only because it's the real One Ring. It only looks fake. The reason it's so light is because it's trying to trick me into thinking it's not Real. ;) I never let anyone touch it because it's mine, my own. The next time I happen to be passing by the Cracks of Doom, I'll toss it in.

I was very, very confused until Gwaimir Windgem's post. :D

I don't have the Ring, but I do have a Shire coin. That way, if I'm in the Shire and I need a pint, I can get me a well-earned mug of 1420. :D

Alas, we've only owned those cheap rings that come with the bookmarks :p ...

What would Tolkien say if he found out all of us wanted the ring? :p

Glad I could help. ;)

A shire coin? That's cute!

I have a vague feeling that the Shire didn't mint coinage...is that right, or wrong?

But then where would they get their coins, considering the North Kingdom fell. I can't see the Hobbits pay with Gondorean money. Hm, maybe there's a good thread-idea in this...

Wondered that myself......never really wanted one (how Faramir-ish of me :D ) but I did covet an elven brooch :)

I have a necklace that I'm convinced was made in Mirkwood, and another necklace that I would swear came from Lorien (I got both of them at Mervyn's department store - I wonder how they got there?)

I don't want the Ring, Hector.

Ri, I supose they were imported. ;)

yeah, I picture elves in hiding, trying to make a living selling some jewelry that only the elven-wise (like me! :humble: ;) ) know is made by elves ... ;)

Well, of course, you are Peredhel. 'Tis only natural that you should recognize their works. ;)
