I saw x-men 3 on friday ( :D FIRST IN LINE :D ) and i was just wondering what you guys thought of it, so please tell me what you thought of it. What was your favorite part? What would you have changed?

btw, if you have not yet seen it, do not view this thread until you do.

Blech. Terrible disappointment. I mean, I wasn't bored or anything, but it was so starkly inferior to the other two, it's just not worth it. :( I'm holding out hope that they get the old director back, and make a fourth (Despite the fact that 3 is titled "Last Stand" )

Yeah, it was just too "noisy" wasn't it? Too many storylines goin' on, and well... it was just naff. :(

Yeah, there probably will... not be a fourth one, because they killed everyone!!!

I'm shocked at the dislike! I thought it was a satisfying "prelude ending";). Lots of stuff went on, yes, but it was actually a nice change from the single-mindedness of some superhero films.

It beats out No.2 for sure, but No.1 is the best.

The overall storyline really was pretty goood, IMO. Really good characters for the most part, esp Xavier and Wolverine. Rogue's story and Jean Grey's had me annoyed though....

It certainly did NOT beat out number 2, which was in fact the best. :p There was some good ideas; the movie certainly had the potential to be a fun movie and a satisfying finish to an entertaining trilogy. But the script was badly written, there was poor implementation all around, and I'm very disappointed in whoever they got to direct this one, and am quite sure that he should have his license taken away. The scenes with the Phoenix displaying her power were just way too canned; the one with Xavier looked like it was straight out of an exorcism movie, only the priest was in a wheelchair and out of clericals. The others smacked of Carrie in a way that was not just reminiscent but overly so.

Well since I'm not a horror buff like you Gwai (;) :p), I just don't see how...

Well, I thought it was ok. I'm not a huge X-Men fan (I've seen the first two movies one time apiece), but it was decent. It seemed a little too special effects heavy for me, like they got carried away with that and forgot about everything else.

Best part -- Juggernaut: "Don't you know who I am?" :D

I thought it was pretty good. There was a lot of action but with the amount of characters that were either killed or had the "cure" (volentary or involentary) How could they make another one. the Phenoix seemed, to me anyway, demonic. I was disappointed that one of my favorite characters, Mystic(sp?) was forced to take the cure. I was also disappointed that Angel didn't get a whole lot of screen time.
The second ending kinda leaves it open for a 4th, IMO. ;)

Yeah, but it looks like the cure is only temporary - at least it is in the case of magneto.

I've never seen the Exorcist, Hector, but when an old man is sitting there trying to save a young woman from this strange Other that is controlling her body, and very strange things are happening...it's kinda obvious. :p

Nope. That was the storyline falling apart. :p

;) Kidding. I actually liked that idea. I do expect a fourth. Did anyone else stay to see the secret scene after the credits?

I didn't like it as a whole. I was fully expecting a glorious conclusion and it totally failed. It seemed like a B-movie, but in addition to that, they went out of their way to make it innacurate. Like, they got a Russian body-builder to play Collossus, and then for his one line, they have him disguise his accent to sound American. They didn't have fans in mind for this movie, just Wolverine groupies.

At least it began with Loserclops crying in his bedroom. I almost laughed out loud. :rightfully cruel:

Oh and another thing: Bishop is my absolute favorite mutant. I was raving about it before the movie was released: if he was in it, I'd buy it and love it and watch it every day. But in the back of my mind I knew it wouldn't happen. The only powers he has are energy channeling, time travel, and the ability to cancel out other mutants' powers. Yeah, wait... he would have been perfect. Absolutely perfect. And amazing. Badass too. In fact, no one would have noticed that it was a B movie if only they'd thought of getting Samuel L. Jackson in dreadlocks to play Bishop. That would have been glorious.

Which doesn't say much. :p I thought the best part was when Pyro said "I would have flamed the Professor for you", and Magneto grabs him and says, "That man has done more for mutants than you can ever dream of." (paraphrased) It really helped to flesh out the characters; they have a tendency to just make it "bad guys vs. good guys", the third one especially.

yeah, you can really see the old friendship between Magneto and Prof. X still existed in that seen.

Not even friendship necessarily, but respect between adversaries.

As far as I know, there is no plans for an X-Men 4.

HOWEVER, there are two movies in the works, on called Wolverine and one called Magneto .

Whether these will be sequels or prequels I don't know...but I'm guessing prequels.

not seen x3 yet ... will go into it wary ..so maybe midly suprised if it aint as big as a let down as i have read about ...

happily suprised generally by how they have created the comic world feel of the xmen in 1 and 2.

prefered 2 to 1 i think (off the top of my head) - but then when i first saw x1 it was a dodgy quality pirate - so i should really go watch the legit x1 again to compare ...

Wolverine sounds like an interesting movie.

i see no reason why the xmen world cannot be plundered for a whole plethora of movies!

best, BB

I find the X-Men universe fascinating; though there were parts I enjoyed, I think the movie was too raunchy and violent. Not to mention that everyone dies like flies, Rogue stops being a mutant (say what? ) and Jean dies a SECOND time (now that's a part I can't stomach).

Something I noticed missing: Where the hell was Nightcrawler? Or did he die in the secon one? I admit I haven't seen the first two
*scampers off to the video store*

Refresh my memory, who was Bishop again?

yeah I wondered about nightcrawler as well, I guess he went back to the circus or whatever. wasn't he like a pacifist in the books? like the only time he was seen fighting was when he was under mind control.

Apparently what happened to Nightcrawler is explained in the Official X-Men III game, which links the 2nd and 3rd movies.

I heard a rumor that Halle Berry was to blame for it all. That she demanded about six rewrites before she would agree to play Storm again, and her demands not only included absolute neglect of Nightcrawler but also a horrible change of storyline.

Sounds a bit hard to believe. But someone's resonsible. IDK.

On second thought, is anyone familiar with the comic books here? Did Rogue actually give up her mutant abilities at one point, or am I getting myself very confused? I know she was a volunteer for one of Mr. Sinister's experiments, at least.

Also, I found some good Bishop pics here. (http://www.knightfall-sr.com/comics%20startpage%20marvel%20x-men%20bishop%20pics.htm) From what little research I just did, i found out that he can channel energy through his body and release it, focused, through his hand. He also uses guns a lot, and can charge the bullets in a variety of ways. My geek brother also insists that he can negate the powers of other mutants, which sort of makes sense, since he can definately absorb and control mutant powers involving energy at least. In addition to that, he's basically the Terminator, because he is from a time 70 or so years into the future, when a big rebellion of mutant slaves has just ended and mutants and people are beginning to co-exist, policing themselves. He's a cop or something, and whoever he works for or with can send him back in time to change the course of history. Like one time I know of, when he appeared at the X-Mansion to organize an attack on Apocolypse. If he hadn't shown up, the X-Men would have learned of Apocolypse's threat too late and he would have conquered the world with his Sentinel robots. The rise of the machines. The more I think about it, the more Bishop reminds me of the Terminator now.

that was exactly my reaction, Brett Ratner is NOT allowed to kill cyclops :( *sigh* why couldn't they stick with Bryan Singer? I would have waited another year, just to have seen Singer's version of "the last stand" :(

Assuming that's the director, I hear he got a better offer for Superman.
