Spock
06-02-2006, 11:29 AM
Great idea.

DB, just go ahead and post a question.

As we have books and movie threads in LOTR, this fits perfectly with our existing policies.

.........waits breathlessly for the first question.

durinsbane2244
06-04-2006, 09:43 AM
nope...it's actually considered one of the seven...

Spock
06-04-2006, 11:12 AM
The only one of the seven wonders still standing is the great pyramid of egypt but I don't remember seeing it in the movie.

sun-star
06-04-2006, 11:16 AM
Isn't that the book where the Weasleys go to Egypt? I can't remember how they did it in the film, but maybe some pyramids are shown then.

durinsbane2244
06-04-2006, 11:49 AM
no, it's not that. remember how i said, "sort of?" yeah. it's a thing that looks like it's based off one. be creative here. :p

Ireth
06-05-2006, 12:48 PM
Are you looking for specific details DB? It would then be 'The Pyramids of Giza'

durinsbane2244
06-05-2006, 01:00 PM
no, it is not the pyramids, nor does it have anything to do with Egypt...

Ireth
06-05-2006, 01:11 PM
I haven't a clue about this.

durinsbane2244
06-05-2006, 01:36 PM

Does anyone know all the Wonders? Name them and you are bound to get it right!

Stonehenge isn't one of the seven wonders of the world... and the stone circle isn't Stonehenge anyway

durinsbane2244
06-28-2006, 01:42 PM
stonehenge isn't a wonder? yes it is...i'm almost positive...and i said makes an appearence sort of, 'cause it sure looks like it. but wow. i just have this memory of a little thingy of the wonders with pictures, and it had Stonehenge...hm...

Spock
07-01-2006, 10:30 AM
NO, you specifically said one of the seven wonders of the world and Stonehenge IS NOT one of them.

I would award Sun-Star the next question in light of your error.

OK, which real-life band(s) played the Weird Sisters in the fourth film?

November, 2005

Note to Disgruntled Harry Potter Fans: We didn't do it!

Earlier this year, our band was contacted by Warner Bros. to request our permission to use the name "Weird Sisters" in the upcoming movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. As fans of the books and the movies, we were enthusiastic about the negotiations. However, the Canadian band, The Wyrd Sisters, objected venomously to Warner Bros.' minimal reference to the name in the film, and filed suit. Warner Bros. broke off negotiations with us as a result, and ultimately dropped all reference to the term "Weird Sisters" in the movie. We have since received several angry emails, apparently mistaking us for the Canadian band, and taking us to task for fighting with Warner Bros.

FOR THE RECORD: we had NO objection to Warner Bros.' plans, and in fact looked forward to the movie. The actions of The Wyrd Sisters have apparently upset the Harry Potter fan community, and in fact, cost us, the Three Weird Sisters, a substantial amount of money, due to the terminated negotiations. The folks who have confused us with the other band have accused us of being mean spirited, and we want to set the record straight. Any communications with The Wyrd Sisters should be directed to them, not us.

I dug out my DVD and went over the credits. The band name does not appear. The credits do include each musical instrument and its player; i.e. bass player, keyboard player, of the band but no name.

I THINK WE NEED A NEW QUESTION

sun-star
07-07-2006, 03:29 AM
The individually credited musicians are members of two famous British bands. Try Google.

Spock
07-07-2006, 08:28 AM
And there is is-------YOU MUST ASK QUESTIONS BASED UPON WHAT IS IN THE MOVIE..not what information you can find about but is not listed or shown in the movie.

PLEASE post a properly qualified new question.

sun-star
07-07-2006, 09:05 AM
The answer (which is Pulp and Radiohead, by the way) was obvious to me when I first saw the film, so I don't think it's unreasonable to think other people would know it.

I suggest you post the next question.

Spock
07-07-2006, 12:11 PM
It was unreasonable as it does not conform to the rules for trivia. You knew because you are interested in that genre, many others aren't.
The band as such was NOT given any credits and so the answer was NOT in the movie.

New question:

Who are the Production Consultants for the last movie?

durinsbane2244
07-08-2006, 06:08 PM
poster pictures. and Todd Baillere for the IMAX version.

Spock
07-08-2006, 06:58 PM
Not quite!

durinsbane2244
07-08-2006, 07:10 PM
are you sure? i can show you the credits...

Spock
07-08-2006, 07:12 PM
Yep, Goblet of Fire, credits, almost the last one on the screen is Production Consultants = Potter Pictures.

You read a different line.

However, you tried so hard, I award you the next question. :D :D :D :D

durinsbane2244
07-08-2006, 07:16 PM
potter pictures, eh? maybe i just misread it and thought it said "poster". hm. dunno. anyways.........who is the only person we've seen control the ceiling in hogwarts?

Spock
07-09-2006, 12:56 PM
In the fourth movie what is different about the Beauxbatons' carriage?

Forgive me but the Beauxbatons carriage only first appears in the fourth movie and so this question isn't logical.
I think you were thinking of comparing the book vs the movie but that cannot be done here.

Please post a new question.

jammi567

righto then! what part of the sorting hat forms its mouth and its eyes?

Serenoli
09-11-2006, 06:01 AM

jammi567

All my questions seem too hard! The song is from Macbeth, the one which goes something like "Double, double toil and trouble, Fire burn and Cauldron bubble"

That's because, while technically your question (and others in the past) are from the movies, they come from the rolling credits at the end.

I feel it would be more in the spirit of "trivia" to ask questions based upon the movie itself rather than the credits.

Why not try again.

Serenoli
09-27-2006, 05:29 AM
But I never saw the end credits! I recognised the song by listening to them sing... anyway, i can't think of anything, really... so, u give a question for once, Spock

Spock
09-27-2006, 09:02 AM
I understand, but only a small number of music fans would recognize the song, etc. and so the question would still be a bit 'exotic' for general trivia.

I'll try and post a question later today.

Spock
09-27-2006, 02:51 PM

in the middle of the start of term feast.

As jammi567 and a very few others (along with myself) are the only ones keeping the trivia going; I'm going to spell out the answer and turn over the next question to him.

1. MEM is first seen walking across the 'moors' in the rain (carrying his walking stick) going towards Hogwarts.

2. Three quick scenes later (about 45 seconds or so) we see his face appear at the dining hall where is entering.

3. Since we know by watching the ENTIRE movie, that this is NOT MEM but an imposter

4. MEM is "seen" in section 7 of his trunk when DD opens it.

I was open to both the first sighting of the imposter or the first of the real MEM---remember I admitted it was a tricky question.

J-take it away.

Spock
09-28-2006, 06:16 PM
A question cannot be evil. The purpose of trivia in in trivial nuances. I was just at the top of my game with that one. :D

jammi567

try post 153. and i'm not complaining, i'm only saying that that question was practically a trick one. but it's over and done with now, so now you can try and answer my question at post 153.

Whats a wifebeater? Do u mean that weird wooly hat he was wearing? As far as I recall, it was maroon, wooly, and had two tying strings hanging down on either side of his face. :D I'm laughing as I remember it.

when does Barty Jr officially join Voldemort?

Serenoli
10-18-2006, 05:53 AM
In the movies... Bart Jr joins Voldy at the Riddle house, (in July?) before the Quidditch World Cup, and around the same time that Frank Bryce was murdered.
